Availability
I work from home so I am able to provide round-the-clock care. I am typically available for daycare bookings during the week and boarding during the weekends, and get booked up quite far in advance so I encourage you to request a booking earlier rather than later, as it's first come first serve! I keep my availability calendar up-to-date so feel free to request a booking if it says I am available during those days :)

Because I am committed to providing round-the-clock care to your dog as well as mine, please note that I currently only accept one dog at a time, and a meet & greet is required before confirming a booking. Since I work remotely, I am able to care for all types of dogs at my home and be around them pretty well 24/7. I am nearby at all times to check in, cuddle, let them out, and play with them. We go on walks a minimum of once per day, and all first timers stay on leash (unless requested otherwise and they have good recall). We also go to the off-leash trails at Shubie Park or Point Pleasant Park, but only if your dog is a good candidate for an off-leash walk. Dogs are treated like family in our home, allowed on furniture and spoiled with lots of love, treats, toys, and attention :)

Information Rebecca H. would like to know about your pet
Please let me know if your dog has any special needs to look after or behaviours to look out for, especially if they are a runner, escape artist, or resource guarders. They must be okay with sharing toys etc. with my dog and show no signs of aggression towards her. We can discuss this more during the meet & greet, as we can usually tell pretty quickly if it's a good fit.
A typical day
The dogs get fed early in the morning (~6-7am) and again at 5pm for supper time, and get lots of outdoor time in the fenced-in yard throughout the day. I usually go outside with the dogs for ~20 minute periods to supervise, make sure they are comfortable, and do their business. I will encourage them to play with sticks or balls if they have some energy to burn. Walks are usually in the afternoon/early evening, between 3-5pm typically. Sometimes my husband joins us but usually it is just me and the dogs going for a walk around the neighbourhood or to the Dartmouth Commons. I make sure to give them lots of praise, treats, and positive reinforcement during every walk! We do let our dog off leash in off-leash areas so she can get a good run in and play some fetch. In the warmer months, she also loves to swim—so if you are comfortable with off-leash walks and your dog enjoys the water as well, they'd be a great match!

Pet care experience
Hi there, I’m Rebecca from Dartmouth Dogsitting! I am known as a “dog whisperer” because not only do they tend to gravitate towards me, but because I have an intuitive understanding of their needs. I am extremely attentive and very in tune with what their behaviour means, or what they may be communicating. I do this because I genuinely love it and always have, since I was as young as six years old! I treat all dogs the same, just as my own—with round the clock love, care, and attention. Nothing makes me happier than being surrounded by doggos and being able to make them feel comfortable, happy, and cared for! No matter what your dog’s needs are, I am committed to making them feel at home and at ease. I work from home and will be by their side all the time. My dog, Kaya, is a very submissive and friendly girl who gets along with every dog, and is used to sharing her home and yard with visitors. She is usually by my side but can also be found lounging in the backyard. Since she is a classic Golden (aka food vacuum), I feed her separately when we have company so everyone gets their meals :) While I would love to care for puppies, I have ample experience caring for senior dogs at home and through volunteering. This includes at-home visits, medication administration, and gentle short walks. Older dogs will always be very dear to my heart!
Reviews

Neeko stayed with Rebecca for a second visit last week and he had a blast! There is no one else I would trust more with my dog than Rebecca and her family. Drop off/pick up is a breeze and communication during the trip is amazing! I love all the pictures and messages to ensure that things are going well. I think Neeko has the time of his life while we are away. My family cannot wait to go on vacation again so Neeko gets to spend time with his favourite pal Kaya and family. Thank you for being amazing sitters!

Rebecca is great. She is responsive and really helped put my mind at ease about leaving my high-maintenance pup somewhere new. Will definitely be a repeat customer.

My dog Betty's second stay with Rebecca was another win. Rebecca takes great care of my pup and sends updates and photos throughout the day. Her fenced yard and sweet family dog make for lots of outdoor time and enrichment for Betty, which are important to me. Betty seems totally at ease with Rebecca and I will be booking with her again!

We left Neeko with Rebecca for his first vacation sleepover. I was anxious about leaving him since we adopted him from a shelter less than a year ago, but after meeting with Rebecca, Kaya and her husband I was totally relaxed. From the very first meet and greet I knew they were going to be a perfect fit to care for Neeko while we were away on vacation. I received messages, videos and pictures that allowed me to see how things were going and because everything went so great I was relaxed and could enjoy my time away. I knew Neeko was having a blast as well and settled into their house with ease. I think he misses Kaya, so we have to arrange something soon so they can play. Rebecca I want to thank you for making this a comfortable experience, you truly went above and beyond and treated Neeko like family, I would recommend your services to anyone looking for an exceptional dog sitter. I can't wait for our next vacation so Neeko gets to spend time with his favourite "sister" Kaya.
