About Rebecca D.

Skills
Safety, trust & environment
Pet safety is extremely important to me. Since I’ll be caring for animals in your home, I’ll collaborate on any safety concerns on the property or in general. I’m able to easily crate dogs and I always walk dogs on leash. I ensure that all exits and entrances are properly closed so that pets don’t get out. I also don’t allow cats outside (unless there is a fully fenced catio). I will also coordinate with you on if there are any local environmental concerns (nearby construction, a door in you home that sticks, etc).
Information Rebecca D. would like to know about your pet
Let me know if your pet has any preferences and their typical routines. I love it when animals have a fun little quirk about them, so if they do, let me know! (Mine is that Boo is addicted to shrimp; it was on her Petfinder profile when I adopted her.)
A typical day
A typical day will be catered to your animal. If they love a certain game, we will play we will play it! Depending on their routines, I like to engage with your pet, see if they need the bathroom or litter changed, and any feeding routine done.

Pet care experience
I have experience caring for cats and dogs of all ages, from 10-week-old puppies and kittens to senior pets. I have also fostered animals (primarily cats) for the past two years and have cats of my own. I’m comfortable caring for multiple animals at a time. I have experience administering oral medication (via oral syringe or with treats). I’m familiar with feeding schedules, following care instructions, litter/waste management, and pet enrichment. I’ve worked with many different behaviors while caring for foster animals and I’m comfortable with animals who are shy, nervous/anxious, high-energy, and special needs. I love taking pictures, so if you are missing your pets while you’re away, I provide daily photo updates. I’m a full-time special education teacher from September through June. My teaching background has strengthened my attention to detail and ability to provide calm, consistent care while following individualized routines. I’m currently on summer break and have additional flexibility with my schedule. I grew up with 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 hermit crabs, 3 fish, and 1 guinea pig (thankfully not all at the same time!). I also have experience in working with farm animals (horses, chickens, ducks) and rode horses for a few years. I have 3 cats of my own (Boo, Sam, & Taylor). I love working with animals and will treat your pets like family while providing updates and care you can feel confident in. I look forward to caring for your pet!

Reviews

Rebecca was great while staying over our house to take care of our 3 cats. Checked in if she had a questions that I didn't leave notes for. Sent daily pictures. I definitely recommend her and will have her watch the cats next time we go away.

Rebecca is wonderful. She helped us last minute when we needed it and took care of our two pups. One of our dogs is recovering from a surgery and Rebecca did a great job managing his meds and the physical therapy he needed daily. I would 10/10 recommend her and look forward to working with her again the in future.

Rebecca took excellent care of my slightly anxious and socially awkward rescue cat named Garage while I was away. I was a little worried leaving her for 3 days because of her behavioral issues, but found that she was in great hands with Rebecca. We will definitely be requesting her again!
Rebecca is one of the most caring and compassionate individual that I have meet and you can see that in her love and care for animals. She is reliable and easy to to communicate with and can tailor to your pets needs. My dog loves hanging out with her and you can tell that Rebecca truly loves your pet like it’s her own. With a high energy dog it can be scary and hard to find someone who can take care them but I feel at ease knowing that Rebecca will take great care of my dog and give her the love and attention she needs.
