Growing up, my family always had dogs. At my grandparents’ house, we had the sweetest little Chihuahua, Little Lady Bug, who made us laugh by chasing the biggest dogs down the street. After Lady came many others: Basset Hounds, Lhasa Apsos, and eventually two King Charles Cavalier sisters, Penny and Emma. My first true canine love was a black Labrador named Charlie Bug. He became the big brother to my three kids, and they adored him. He was gentle, protective, endlessly patient, and full of love. When Charlie became ill, we welcomed Olive Oil, a Papillon who became his eyes and ears. Life took some unexpected turns, and for a time, our home was without four-legged companions. But my love for dogs never faded. I now find joy by being present in the lives of friends’ and family members’ pets—and I’m excited to share that same love and care with your furry family member.
