I work from home full-time, so I’m able to give your pet lots of attention and companionship throughout the day. I’m occasionally out for a couple of hours for work every other Tuesday and on rare days outside of that, but I’ll always let you know in advance. Your pet’s comfort and routine come first!

I always ask about any medical conditions, allergies, or medications so I can provide the best care possible. Knowing their feeding schedule, favorite toys, and exercise preferences helps me keep their day consistent and comfortable. I also want to understand how they interact with people and other animals, whether they’re shy, energetic, or maybe a little nervous, so I can create a safe and positive environment. If there are any special behaviors or triggers, it’s helpful to know those too, so I can avoid stress and keep them happy. Open communication with the owner before and during the booking ensures I can adjust as needed and make the experience great for both pet and parent.
A typical day
When I watch pets, I make sure they feel safe, loved, and engaged. If your dog enjoys walks, we’ll explore the neighborhood or find a quiet spot where they can sniff and stretch their legs. For playful pups, I keep them entertained with fetch, tug-of-war, or whatever their favorite toys are. If they’re more low-key, I’m just as happy to spend time snuggling, brushing them, or sitting quietly nearby while I work from home. I also love using simple training games to keep their minds active, especially if you’re working on basic commands. I always send updates and photos so you can see how your pet’s day is going—I try to capture their personality in every snapshot. Every pet is different, so I take the time to get to know what makes each one happy and make their time with me feel like a mini vacation.

I’ve always been around pets, and I see them as true members of the family—not just animals we care for, but companions we’re lucky to have. I genuinely love both dogs and cats, and I enjoy spending time with them, whether that’s going for walks, playing, or just being a calm, comforting presence. Because I work from home nearly full-time, I’m able to give pets a lot of attention and consistency. I believe in forming real connections with the animals I care for and being a reliable, communicative sitter that pet parents can count on. If I ever have to step out for anything, I’ll always keep you in the loop. Your pet’s well-being is my priority, and I take that responsibility to heart.

I'm a lecturer at Harvard and Columbia University, so I end up spending much of my time immersed in research and teaching. Additionally, I take few things more seriously than the well-being of my French bulldog, Bravo—who is, without exaggeration, my closest companion and absolute pride and joy. Trusting someone else with him is not something I do lightly. Raul is one of the very few people I trust implicitly to care for Bravo. He has an extraordinary intuitive sense for animals and treats Bravo with the kind of tenderness and attention most people reserve for their own children. Whether it’s cuddling on the couch, keeping him comfortable, or simply being a calming, affectionate presence, Raul consistently goes above and beyond. As an example, I was recently away for a conference and Bravo got very sick. Raul drove him to the ER, made sure he received the best treatment possible, and stayed there with him for several hours. I will never forget the attention and care he offered Bravo when we needed the most! His reliability, warmth, and clear emotional intelligence make him not only a wonderful caretaker but someone I consider a genuinely rare and valuable presence in Bravo’s life—and mine. Anyone would be fortunate to have their pet in Raul’s care.
Raul lived upstairs from me in Keene, NH. From the moment we met, it was clear how much he loves and understands cats. His own cat, Sebastian, was deeply loved and well cared for, and that same kindness extended naturally to my cats, Murphy and Cheetah. Raul was always sweet and gentle with them — never pushy, always respectful of their space — and they both grew very comfortable with him, which means a lot. It’s rare to find someone who not only loves animals but truly gets them. I would absolutely trust Raul with my pets, and I know they’d be in caring, capable hands. I would not only trust him to care for my pets, but would totally trust him in my home and personal space. Raul is one of the most trustworthy and honest people I know.
