Assistant Canine Behaviourist
Hi all, My name is Raquel and I am Canine Behaviourist. I have my small Business called Treat and Trail - Canine Wellness where I offer training along other services. In addition, I worked as an assistant Canine Behaviourist at Fern Ember Dog Behaviourist. My approach follows the Thinking-Dog method, build around making all pups feel comfortable, calm and connected. The idea behind this is all about the dog’s wellbeing, their safety and comfort. I previously worked as a dog walker during my time as a student, specialising in high-energetic dogs, tailoring walks to their needs and combining running sessions with enrichment activities. I owned different breeds and temperaments, from puppies to adults and seniors, including reactive dogs. Furthermore, I am comfortable with big boisterous dogs, small fearful dogs or socially anxious dogs. All of them deserve to enjoy a caring space with free of judgement where their only concern is about how much fun and care will receive.

Raquel is absolutely fantastic with Korra. Korra loves walks, but is an anxious girly and Raquel is really helping Korra become more confident and present in her walks. Korra also loves Raquel and gets so excited to see her (which is the most adorable thing)!!
Tillie spent time with Raquel today in her home after a very positive meet and greet. Raquel provided regular updates during her time with Tillie who does suffer from separation anxiety. She was so reassuring, caring and patient with Tillie during her stay. It is evident that Raquel has a natural talent with dogs and her compassionate and supportive approach was just what Tillie and myself needed. We will definitely be requesting Raquel's service again. Thank you Raquel🙂
Raquel was amazing with our 10 month old puppy. She came home very happy and we felt extremely comfortable leaving our little girl with her. Communication from Raquel was great and she sent us lots updates throughout the day 😊
Raquel was very knowledgeable and professional. Our puppy enjoyed her first time and Raquel took things at her pace. The meet and greet was very reassuring and the photos during her stay put your mind at ease. Would recommend and will be requesting her service again.
When we took our 4-month-old rescue pup home, we discovered how scared she was—she wouldn't even step outside. I was already working, and I need it someone to look after Mabel. Raquel was fantastic. She spent time gaining our puppy's trust, never rushing her, always making her comfortable. Slowly, Mabel started coming out of her shell. Now she even likes her walks! Raquel is good with dogs and a lifesaver to our family. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a dog walker.
I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Raquel! She has been an absolute dream with Cooper. From the very first walk, I knew she had a special talent for dogs—kind, patient, and just totally knowledgeable. Before Raquel, Cooper would pull the leash like a little freight train, and his prey drive made every squirrel sighting an adventure (for him, not me!). But thanks to Raquel's background in dog behaviour, he's much more laid-back on walks, and I can now feel like we're finally doing it together and not him dragging me along for the ride. Above all, I'm so at ease leaving her with my beloved boy. She treats him like family and keeps him calm, safe, and entertained on every walk. If you're looking for a responsible, friendly, and particularly skilled dog walker, Raquel is your best bet! Cooper and I feel just blessed to have met her, and I know that any dog (and owner) would be too.

Schedule
I have full availability and can take care of your canine companions. I own my home and I only share it with my two-years-old staffy cross, Freya. We are big adventure explorers and love finding muddy walks, climbing, swimming, running and jumping obstacles.

Safety, trust & environment
I completely understand how nerve-racking it is to leave your dog with a stranger, either for an hour or a night. For this reason, my approach would always be to include a free of charge meet and greet with the dog parents, take a walk in the area together and discuss all your concerns. My priority is for your dog and yourself to feel relaxed and trust that your dog is in good hands. Additionally, I am fully insured and DBS checked. I have a fenced garden with lovely views to the dog park. My dog, Freya, and I are less than 10 minutes to the common, and we are ready for an adventure, as mentioned. If your dog is staying a night, we will need to prearrange a meeting with my dog, Freya and trial night to understand if your dog feels comfortable and wants social interactions. If booking my services as a dog-walker, I will take your dog individually if requested.

A typical day
I have learned from working with dogs how crucial it is for them to have a balance of everyday experiences that include mental, and physical activities in a peaceful en environment. It is advised that dogs get an hour of exercise each day. However, each dog's experience will be determined by their age, character, and needs. As a result, my top goal will be to schedule your dog for appropriate experiences, such as social interactions, games or quiet activities within urban or rural settings.

- Any considerations will be further discussed during our meet and greet. I would, however, need your pet to be healthy and completely vaccinated. Regretfully, because of my interactions with other dogs, I am unable to accept any sick dogs. As a result, I would send a message 24 hours before our appointment to verify their condition. Complete behavioural disclosure is also required. If there are any unexpected reactions while in my care, I'll have to return your dog immediately. Please be assured that any information you choose to share during our meeting will be kept completely confidential.
