Previously in tech (FAANG). I occasionally nanny so you can trust that I am responsible and caring for your loved ones. I have a somewhat flexible schedule outside of my shifts that allows me to take on pet care regularly especially mornings and most evenings after 9pm. I'm also open for some weekend bookings, just shoot me a message. Whether it's meal + potty drop-ins + walks or an overnight stay, I never ever flake and I’m committed to making sure your pet has consistent care and attention while you’re away. Rest assured your fur family and home is in great hands!

Safety, trust & environment
When caring for pets, I keep their environment tidy, calm, and low stress. I follow your care instructions closely, from food routines to walking habits, and ensure they always feel secure in their home. I don't take unnecessary risks on walks, and I keep a close eye on doors, gates, and food portions. I'm respectful of your space and prioritize your pet's comfort above all.
Information Rachel Y. would like to know about your pet
Important to know about their pets ahead of time: I appreciate knowing in advance if your pet has any quirks, sensitivities, or specific routines I should follow to keep them happy and comfortable. Please let me know if they’re shy, picky with food, prone to scratching/chewing, or have any history of aggression or anxiety around strangers. The more you share, the better I can make sure we’re a great fit! Some sample questions: How are they around other animals and humans? What kind of medications are they taking? Do they have any allergies? What are their favorite treats and toys? How well do they follow direction? How are they, while being leashed on a walk? Do they tend to pull or walk by your side? Do they have unprovoked aggression towards other animals and people?
A typical day
Each pet has their own personality, so I like to follow their lead, especially with cats and anxious dogs with a history of abuse. A typical day might include feeding, a bit of play, quiet cuddle time, and some companionship while I work or read nearby. For cats, I love engaging them with a feather toy or just sitting beside them if they prefer space. For dogs, I’ll take relaxing walks and make sure they get fresh air and stimulation without overstressing them. For higher energy dogs, I like to get that energy out with a game of fetch at the park or beach (if trained & have strong recall). I enjoy creating a peaceful, predictable environment where pets can feel safe and cared for. Whether that’s curling up for some cuddles in the living room or a slow nature walk around the neighborhood, I focus on keeping things low stress and comforting.

Pet care experience
SPCA community volunteer. I grew up in a household with small and medium/large dogs for over 15 years and spent lots of time playing with my neighbors indoor/outdoor kitties. I’ve always had a calm presence that animals tend to feel safe around. These days, I’m looking to reconnect with that joy through pet sitting and dog walking. My calm disposition makes me a perfect match with mellow, anxious animals who enjoy quiet companionship. My rates reflect my experience with senior animals that require more care & critical attention for their sensitive, often frail condition where changes can rapidly occur. I have experience caring for pets with chronic ailments like CKD and advanced age degenerative conditions and also have experience adjusting diet based on carefully observed symptom changes. I don’t do any advanced training or intense medical care, but I'm good with routine, and I’m diligent about following instructions. I’m the kind of sitter who is committed to your pet's well being, keeps things neat, and genuinely enjoys the little quirks each pet brings. In your home, I: ✔ Keep pets on their normal schedule (no risky changes) ✔ Avoid dog parks/safety concerns (unless you request them) ✔ Send photo updates so you know they’re safe ✔ Leave your space cleaner than I found it!

Reviews

Rachel followed the instructions perfectly and my ordinarily nervous pup felt very relaxed her.

Love having Rachel come for weekly dog walks while we're at work. Greatly appreciate the photos, detailed notes, care for our dog, and peace of mind that Rachel provides!

Rachel did a great job taking care of Pecan, who seemed to enjoy her company very much.

Rachel is amazing! She took such wonderful care of my dogs, and was consistent with communication and updates. I’m grateful to have someone so attentive and caring look after my girls ☺️
