Pet care experience
I’ve taken care of dogs since my early teen years, and I’ve branched out to cats recently! I have experience with pets of all ages, from puppies and kittens to senior pets. Whether the animal is more energetic and needs lots of playtime or would like to nap and cuddle on my lap, I’m here for all of it. I am very intuitive when it comes to animals and I can usually tell what they want or need - likewise, I treat pets with respect: if they don’t want want to be petted or if they need personal space, I make sure to honor that. Growing up, I looked after the family dog and made sure he was fed, bathed, and had playtime, and I gave him oral syringe and pill medicine when he got into his senior years. Due to my work schedule and singleness, I wanted a dog but decided to rescue a cat instead. She is shy and doesn’t always want to be petted, but she is young and loves to play. My sister trusts me to take care of her energetic Shephard-husky mix, her sleepy senior cat, and her active calico kitten on an as-needed basis.

Rachel was amazing - she would send me frequent updates on how everything was going. When I got home it was clear that the pets had been happy and weren’t stressed at all.
We asked Rachel to come let our dog out and play with her for a couple of hours while we were gone for the day. Our dog loves her and is really comfortable when Rachel comes to play! We didn't even ask but she gave the cats some extra food too, since they were hungry. She is very attentive to animal's needs and I would recommend her to anyone needing a caregiver for their fur babies!
Rachel is a kind-hearted genuine lover of animals, especially dogs and cats. She is reliable and dependable and is able to follow feeding and care instructions for pets including allergies.

I always pay attention to the animal’s space and boundaries. I worked with a shy cat once and I didn’t pressure him into being petted or make him come to me. Eventually he warmed up to me, and by the fourth day I could tell he wanted to be petted, so it was worth it! Essentially, I like taking the pet’s lead. If they’re up for playing, I would love to play with them! If they’re more sleepy then I’ll let them be. I will take care of your pet(s) by your rules and preferences, so whether it be no human food, no outside cats, fed at 6pm, or free-fed, I will honor what you and your pet need and are used to. I also strive to keep a clean environment and respect the space.

I would like to know a general idea of the animal’s temperament as well as any allergies or special requirements. I would also like to know if the dog has a routine and I can follow that as closely as possible!
A typical day
I like to let them to sit with or on my lap, or play! Animals that have lots of energy will get lots of playtime and / or walks, and for chill animals I am happy to let them sit in my lap or let them sleep.

Availability
For the summer, my availability is very open until I go out of town in mid-June! During the academic year I have a full-time day job, so I will be available for drop-ins in the early morning, most evenings, and most weekends. I can house sit on most weekends and most times I can start after 6pm on a Friday and stay through Sunday.
