Pet care is my full-time work and the center of my daily routine. I structure my schedule around the animals in my care so they receive consistent attention, companionship, and a steady presence throughout the day. Because this is my primary focus, I’m able to stay attuned to each pet’s needs, energy, and rhythm while maintaining the routines they’re used to at home. I don’t rush visits or treat care as an afterthought — the well-being of the animals I’m responsible for guides how I move through my day. It’s work I genuinely love and feel grateful to do.

Drop-In Visits Each drop-in visit includes a potty break or short walk, fresh food and water, and playtime or companionship based on your pet’s needs and energy level. I also take care of a few small household touches — watering indoor plants, bringing in mail, collecting litter, and doing a quick visual check of the home — so everything stays cared for while you’re away. Home Stays (Overnights) Overnight care includes consistent routines, 2-3 walks per day, and a calm overnight presence so your pet isn’t left alone or unsettled. I provide regular photo updates and communication, and I treat your home with the same respect I give the animals in my care — watering plants, bringing in mail, collecting litter, and keeping shared spaces tidy and well looked after. Walks Each walk is tailored to your dog’s pace, age, and energy level. I make sure they have water along the way and afterward, and I can replenish food if requested. You’ll also receive photos from our time out together — and I’m always happy to bring treats along if approved by the human.

Information Rachel S. would like to know about your pet

Before care begins, it’s helpful to know about any medical needs, medications, anxiety, sensitivities, or physical limitations your pet may have, as well as any routines or preferences that help them feel comfortable. I also appreciate insight into how your pet typically responds to new people or changes in environment. While this information is important, I always take time to observe and attune to each animal once we’re together, so I can meet them where they’re at and adjust care as needed.

A typical day

Each day is shaped around your pet’s routine, personality, and energy level. Depending on the animal, that might include neighborhood walks, park or beach time, backyard play, or longer outings like hikes. Just as often, it’s quieter time at home — playing with toys, relaxing nearby, or settling in for the evening. I pay attention to each pet’s cues and keep things balanced so they stay comfortable, engaged, and in their normal rhythm.

Pet care experience

I’m a full-time professional pet sitter with over 10 years of experience providing calm, attentive, and highly reliable care. Based in Long Beach, I offer overnight house sitting, walks, and drop-in visits, and I’m known for maintaining pets’ routines so they feel safe and at ease while their humans are away. I have extensive experience with anxious, sensitive, and senior animals, as well as pets who require medications or extra patience. My approach is grounded, observant, and responsive — I take the time to understand each pet’s unique personality, needs, and rhythm so they feel comfortable and supported. Whether that looks like neighborhood walks, park or beach time, or simply keeping a relaxed and cozy home environment, I meet each animal where they are. I’m attentive to the small details that matter in daily care and communication, so you can feel confident your pet is in capable, thoughtful hands. I’m also a proud queer, non-binary caretaker (they/them) and create a respectful, welcoming experience for both pets and the people who love them.

We had a great experience with Rachel. They were wonderful with my pittie. They are very responsible and intuitive. They went above and beyond in taking good care of my home. Will definitely have Rachel come back and take care of my Molly girl again. It’s so nice to go on vacation and know your baby is in good hands.

We couldn’t be more pleased with the service we got from Rachael . Our Great Dane puppy Winnie had the best time playing outside, working on training and kicking back with dog TV. ( I had no idea this existed, and Winnie is obsessed ) 10/10 would recommend!!

So happy I chose Rachel to watch my dog Juno overnight. Juno can definitely be a handful and Rachel is super comfortable with her and I had such a peace of mind not having to worry while I was traveling. I can tell my dog had so much fun, and would absolutely book again.

Rachel is awesome. Our dog Samantha immediately loved them and had a great walk. Rachel did a great job of taking care of our fur baby. Highly recommended.
