Safety, trust & environment

My garden is fully fenced. If it's warm enough to leave the back door open, they'll have free access to the back garden. Pets will usually hang out with me in my ground floor office. There's a door between the hallway and front door to prevent escapees. No other pets live here. When I'm in your home, I'll ask for full details on how your pet needs to be cared for. I'm used to a very needy dog! I have access to a car with a full, clean driving licence. DBS checked. LGBTQ+ friendly.

Information Rachel R. would like to know about your pet

Let me know if your dog has any special requirements. I can't look after dogs with high behavioural needs, but if you have a senior dog who is very clingy I'm very used to that! To make sure your dog feels safe, happy, and well cared for while they're with me, I’d love to know a few things before any booking: Do they have any medical needs, behavioural quirks, or special routines I should be aware of? What do they like and dislike? Any favourite toys or games? What are their feeding and toileting habits? Are they comfortable with other dogs, cats, children, or strangers? Do they know any commands or have a reliable recall? Are there any triggers I should watch out for (e.g. loud noises, postmen, other dogs)? Are there any dos or don’ts you'd like me to follow—whether it's house rules, training goals, or just things they love or hate? A short checklist of their typical daily routine would also be really helpful. I always like to meet dogs in advance so we can all feel confident and relaxed. For house sitting, I'll come to you, for daycare I prefer the dog comes to my house to make sure it's suitable.

A typical day

There's a park at the top of the road near my house which we'll visit- it's a great walk and usually they'll have the chance to meet other dogs if they are friendly. I don't do off-lead walks unless we book a private field (which is great fun!). Dogs are allowed on the furniture so we can cuddle up. I can do daycare for 2-3 dogs from the same household. When I receive a booking, I mark myself as unavailable for other dogs, so it's ok to book only one space. If it's in your house you can show me your favourite walks. I can also do snuffle mats or other food stimulation toys. I can also do daytime/evening sits in your home without staying overnight- I know how important it is to have a night out while your dog stays in a familiar environment.

Pet care experience

I've decided to join Rover in memory of my lovely girl Missy, who I lost last year at 15 years old. Although I loved her, it was difficult to look after her in her final years, and I couldn't find anyone to help when all I needed was a night off. So I'm happy to spend time with your pets! For day boarding, I work from home and love to have company hanging out in my office. I have a fenced garden they can explore. When I'm house sitting, I am Cardiff based and can take shorter bookings. I can travel for longer bookings (fuel charge may apply). I am happy to sleep in the same bed for the really needy ones. My partner Alex usually accompanies me- he loves dogs too! I can also do day and evening sits in your house- I know how important it is to have a day or night out while your pet stays in a familiar environment. My earnings from Rover go towards sponsoring Wallace, a rescue currently in foster care at Pawpers In The Ruff in Macedonia.

Rachel was fantastic with Patch and Millie. She was very understanding about our last-minute change of time, and the dogs settled in really well. We’d highly recommend her and wouldn’t hesitate to book with her again.

Rachel is brilliant. Rufus was so settled with her and didn’t experience any of his usual anxiety, being away from home. Rufus is looking forward to Rachel coming to stay in July 🐶🙂

Rachel was absolutely wonderful house sitting for our elderly Airedale. We had plenty of updates and photos and Lotty was happy and contented when we returned . She is totally trustworthy and competent as well as kind and gentle and the house was lovely and tidy. We look forward to having her to stay again.
