I’m a student on summer break working part-time, mostly on weekdays. I’m available early mornings before 7:00 am and again after 4:00 pm at the latest (though often earlier). My weekend availability varies since I occasionally visit family out of town, but when I’m in town, my weekends are wide open!

I don’t offer pet care in my own home, but I’m very comfortable caring for pets in theirs. I take time to learn each pet’s routine, energy level, and communication style. Whether that means sticking to a specific feeding schedule, giving medication, playing fetch, or simply offering calm companionship, I aim to make your pet feel safe and comfortable while you’re away. I’m also happy to keep up with basic home routines like bringing in the mail or watering plants if I’m house sitting.

Pet care experience

Hi, I’m Rachel! I’ve worked with animals in a wide range of settings, including interning at a veterinary office, volunteering with rescue organizations, fostering with my family, socializing puppies, leash training, and of course, pet sitting. I have experience with animals of all ages, sizes, and temperaments, including those with special needs or anxiety. Through this work, I’ve developed a strong understanding of animal body language and behavior. I know how to help an anxious dog feel safe, give a high-energy pup the exercise and playtime they need, and recognize when a dog is asking for space. I understand that being apart from their people can be stressful for pets, and I always prioritize creating a calm, loving, and responsive environment to help them feel secure while you’re away. Whether it’s a drop-in, walk, or overnight care, your pet will be in patient, capable hands.

Rachel did a wonderful job caring for our cats while we were away for work. I highly recommend booking her the next time you need a pet sitter!

Rachel is a very caring and dependable pet sitter. She grew up in a household that not only had many pet family members, but also a countless foster dogs, cats, rabbits and even hamsters! She is very passionate about animal advocacy and volunteers her time at many county and non profit shelters. She even spoke before the county commissioners about the over population of dogs and cats in NC and offered many solutions for the council to consider. I would highly recommend Rachel to care for your furry family member!

My family and I rented a house in the mountains and wanted to all go out for dinner but needed somebody to come in for a couple of hours and sit with our dog. Found Rachel she was a godsend! The whole transaction through Rover was fabulous. She was punctual, caring, loving, and above all actually brought homemade sourdough bread for us! I cannot recommend her enough. Thanks again, Rachel!
