The Mutt Hut 🐶

*your dog MUST be crate trained and up to date on rabies, distemper, & bordetella to stay with me* Hello! My name is Rachel and I have a special love for animals. My husband and I have one dog and two cats of our own. We live on 2 acres with a large portion fully fenced in for your pups to enjoy! I have been working with animals for about six years now. In 2017 I started working at a doggie daycare as a back of house manager where I provided a safe, fun environment for up to 100 dogs per day. Unfortunately I had to move and leave that job. Since moving to Georgia I have worked at two other kennels caring for cats and dogs. I was fortunately able to leave my traditional kennel job to do Rover full time. I’m also a certified dog trainer through Karen Pryor Academy which focuses on positive reinforcement. My work experience has provided me a very good understanding of dog behavior and to be able to recognize healthy, happy body language. I have created a special bond with so many dogs throughout my work experience and I crave to create more with your pup!

Excellent as always! My lab came home so happy. She really loves staying over at Miss Rachel’s house! And we love it too because we don’t have to worry about her while away.

Rachel was amazing, as always! She watched my boy for a week and although I always worry about leaving him, Rachel did an amazing job of keeping me updated with photos and how he is doing (even with me having very limited internet). Thank you always, Rachel!!

Rachel is amazing with my dog. I’m so happy I found her. She always sends a ton of pictures even some videos. It makes me so happy to see my dog having fun and he is always wore out when he gets home from a visit with her. highly recommend!

Communication was great and I really appreciated the pictures! She went above and beyond for my dog - I knew he was well taken care of and definitely tired after a day of play!

The best care for our big boy as always! He is so happy at Rachel’s, so it makes leaving him not quite so tough. Such a big help for us!

Safety, trust & environment

How boarding works: *your dog MUST be crate trained to stay with me* I require a meet & greet prior to your dog boarding with me. A meet and greet allows me to meet your pet while you are able to see where your pet will be staying. Day to day schedule: 6am: potty & breakfast 6-7am: rest in crate 7am-12pm: playtime outside (depending on weather) the amount of playtime your pup receives is dependent on how many dogs I have and if they all get along. Not all dogs get along so sometimes I do playtime on a rotation basis but it’s rare if I have more than two dogs that do not get along. 12-2pm: rest in crate 2-5pm: playtime 5-8pm rest in crate 8-9pm: potty before bed * this is obviously dependent on the day. Weekends are often a bit more scattered. *I try to make playtime very intentional and get them to do things they enjoy the entire time that way they are content and tired when it’s crate time. Playtime can include anything your pet enjoys. Whether it be going for a walk or just cuddling. I try my best to cater to your pets specific needs especially because no matter what the boarding setting is like it’s often stressful for most pets. They will also receive some sort of enrichment in the evenings when crated (frozen Kong). Each evening you can expect to receive pictures and itinerary of what your pet did that day. If time allows I will send updates throughout the day as well. You are welcome to reach out at anytime for updates though! Please note I have a dog of my own who doesn't really love interacting with other dogs and two cats who are scared of other dogs. For everyone’s safety and happiness they will be kept separate from your pet.
