Pet care experience

happiest with 4-legged TAs

I adopted my 6-lb dog when I found out she has seizures, a health problem someone didn't want to deal with. Seven years later she's living a great life despite her health problems. During the pandemic, many dogs needed places to live and shelters didn't always have space, so I began fostering dogs during that time. It was a joy to give dogs a good life as best as I was able. Fast forward to now. Once again, I'm working from home. My remote work allows me to spend my days with my dog, a quiet girl who usually sniffs any new dog in her vicinity and then promptly goes back to her nap. Between the classes I teach online (where my teaching assistant - TA - is my dog), we spend time sniffing around out in the yard, saying hi to neighborhood dogs, and taking short walks. My residential neighborhood is a good place for walks. Inside, my house is quiet, a good place for adult dogs who like to chill. Lots of rugs, little dog beds, and a couple comfy couches provide places for dogs to lounge. Let me know if your dog would like to come chill with us!

Doggy Day Care • Apr 17, 2025

Rachel was great! Very accommodating and flexible to our schedule. Her house was a great environment for our dog, she went above and beyond to care for Winston and he came home ready for a nap! Would definitely use again

Rachel is very affectionate with my dogs and will meet them on their energy level for playtime. She was very comforting to my elderly dog in his last months, yet can be really playful with my younger dog. I have never seen her lose her temper with any pets, no matter how rambunctious. She is a great caretaker!

Rachel has dog sat my baby Ruby multiple times. She was actually the first sitter she ever experienced, and she always does such a great job with her. There is no one better to watch your fur kids than a dedicated animal lover. Ruby and Rachel's dog Frieda have a similar temperment, so they just exist in each other's space hehe. Highly recommend Rachel for anyone looking for a sitter!

Rachel is extremely trustworthy, communicative, and reliable. She loves pets and cares for them deeply. I wouldn’t hesitate to leave my dog in her care any time, and I recommend her highly!

Rachel is a very responsible pet caregiver because she has taken care of her own dog and has fostered dogs temporarily for shelters in the past seven years. She is kind to the dogs, makes sure they get enough food, water, and exercise.

Schedule

I work from home and can generally board dogs all day, for instance 7 or 8 am until 4 or 5 pm, although I can be pretty flexible for earlier or later start/end times. Occasionally I run an errand during the day. We can discuss how this might best be accomplished based on your dog's needs.

Safety, trust & environment

I have an almost half-acre fenced yard. Dogs have enjoyed running around our yard, although my older, less energetic 6-pound dog is more of a slow explorer of nature. Indoors, dogs are allowed on all furniture except the beds. There is plenty of space - from the living room, kitchen, dining room, and my home office - for dogs to lounge around, chew on their toys, etc. I give regular potty/outdoor breaks and give small snacks to my dog throughout the day.

Pets

A typical day

Outdoors, we like to hang out in the yard and check "pee-mail" a couple of times a day. Indoors, there is always time devoted to belly scratches and gently playing on the rug together.
