I work from home 4 days of the week, so I’m able to be home throughout the day and give dogs a lot of attention, playtime, and care. My schedule is flexible, which makes pick up and drop off easy to coordinate, and your dog won’t be left alone for long periods.

Safety, trust & environment

My pets are part of my family, and I treat every dog in my care the same way. Dogs are welcome on furniture and can sleep wherever they’re most comfortable, whether that’s on the bed or in a crate if they’re used to one. I have a partially fenced yard and always supervise outdoor time. I also use a long lead when needed for extra safety, so dogs are never outside unattended. My home is calm, clean, and set up to make dogs feel comfortable and secure.

Information Rachel H. would like to know about your pet

Does your dog get along well with other dogs? My two dogs are friendly, gentle, and have done well with every dog they’ve met. They have a moderate energy level—they enjoy playing but also like to relax. I always like to understand your dog’s personality, routine, and any specific needs ahead of time so I can make sure it’s a good fit and create a comfortable experience for everyone.

A typical day

A typical day includes a mix of walks, playtime, and downtime. I take dogs out for walks around my neighborhood and spend time playing with them both inside and outside, depending on their energy level. I also have a large selection of toys and safe chew options to keep dogs mentally engaged and entertained throughout the day. My two dogs love to play and are great at keeping other dogs company, but they also know how to relax, so the environment stays balanced and not overwhelming. I try to match each dog’s routine and energy level so they feel comfortable and at home.

Pet care experience

Hi! I’m Rachel 😊 I’ve been around dogs my entire life and have been watching dogs on Rover for about 7 years now. I genuinely love it—it never feels like a job to me. I grew up with German Shepherds and spent a lot of time as a teenager volunteering at a German Shepherd rescue, where I helped care for and train dogs from all kinds of backgrounds. Because of that, I’m very comfortable with different personalities, energy levels, and temperaments. I now have two dogs of my own—Ollie (9) and Luca (8), both Shelties and brothers. They’re very gentle, friendly, and love having other dogs around. They still have plenty of energy and are always happy to play, but they also know how to relax and just hang out. I work from home most of the week, so I’m around all day and your dog won’t be left alone for long periods. They’ll get lots of attention, playtime, and walks throughout the day. At my house, your dog will have a calm, home environment (not a chaotic setup with tons of dogs), supervised outdoor time, walks around my neighborhood, and plenty of toys and space to play. I’m always outside with the dogs and keep a close eye on them. I also have a long lead available for extra safety when needed. I’m comfortable giving medication and can follow any specific routines or feeding instructions your dog needs. I also send daily updates with photos so you can feel confident that your dog is safe, happy, and doing well while you’re away. More than anything, I treat every dog like they’re my own. I know how hard it is to leave your dog with someone else, so I do everything I can to make it a great experience for both you and your dog. Feel free to reach out with any questions—I’d love to meet you and your dog! 😊

Rachel was a fantastic sitter! Super communicative, sent lots of photos, and Ivar seemed sad to leave. She clearly welcomed Ivar as if he was part of the family and that’s the best feeling! Would use her any time we go out of town!

Rachel was awesome with Nori! Nori loved her and her two pups ❤️ My work schedule can be all over the place and a bit unpredictable but Rachel was very kind and accommodating! I know Rachel is moving from Chicago but I highly recommend her, wherever she goes :) Good luck Rachel!
