Pet care fits very naturally into my daily routine, as I work from home on a freelance basis and am around for most of the day. This means your dog will have consistent company, supervision, and a calm, reassuring environment rather than being left alone for long periods. I structure the day around each dog’s individual needs, with walks in the morning, at lunchtime, after work, and before bedtime. Whether your dog enjoys gentle strolls, playtime, or a slower pace, I adapt to what helps them feel most comfortable and settled. Evenings are relaxed and homely, and I am very happy for dogs to sleep in my bedroom if this is what they are used to, so they feel safe, secure, and not alone overnight. I care for every dog as if they were my own, creating a space where they feel safe, settled, and truly at home.

Safety, trust & environment

Safety and trust are very important to me, and I always aim to create a calm, secure and respectful environment for every dog in my care. At home, I have a secure, fully fenced garden where dogs can safely spend time outdoors. Inside, my home is clean, tidy and relaxed, providing a comfortable space where dogs can settle and feel at ease. I keep a close eye on each dog at all times and follow their usual routine as closely as possible, including feeding, walks, and rest. When caring for dogs in an owner’s home, I am respectful, reliable and treat the space with care. I follow all instructions carefully to ensure your dog feels safe in their familiar environment, and I maintain the same level of cleanliness and attention as I would in my own home. I take time to understand each dog’s individual needs and always prioritise their safety, comfort and wellbeing.

Information Rachel H. would like to know about your pet

I like to get a clear understanding of each dog so I can provide the best possible care and keep their routine consistent. It’s helpful to know your dog’s daily routine, feeding schedule, exercise needs, and any behavioural traits or preferences — for example how they are with other dogs, being left alone, or anything that helps them feel more settled. I am very comfortable caring for senior dogs and understand the importance of a slower pace, gentle handling, and close attention to their comfort and wellbeing. I also have experience supporting dogs with medical needs, including specific dietary requirements and administering injections (such as for diabetes), and I am happy to follow your vet-recommended routine carefully. The more detail you can share, the better I can ensure your dog feels safe, understood, and completely at home.

A typical day

A typical day is built around keeping your dog happy, comfortable and gently stimulated, while maintaining a calm and familiar routine. The day usually starts with a morning walk, tailored to your dog’s needs — whether that’s a gentle stroll or something a little more varied. I enjoy exploring different terrains and routes to keep things interesting, always adapting to suit each dog’s energy levels and preferences. Throughout the day, there is plenty of companionship, time to relax, and opportunities for play. I love engaging dogs with games like ball and gentle chase, as well as giving them space to rest and feel settled. Walks are also included at lunchtime, after work, and before bedtime, alongside quiet time at home so your dog feels balanced and not overstimulated. My aim is to create a day that feels natural, enjoyable and reassuring — with a mix of exercise, play, and calm, so your dog feels happy, safe, and truly at home.

Loving home-from-home dog care

Pet care experience

I have not known life without either a cat or dog, and when I became a dog mum nine years ago, I formed a bond I never knew was possible. It gave me a deep understanding of just how much our pets mean to us — they are family. Alongside caring for my own dog, I have looked after dogs for family and neighbours, including in-home boarding and walks. I know how important it is to feel completely confident leaving your dog in someone else’s care, and I treat every dog as if they were my own. I offer a calm, safe and loving environment where your dog can feel relaxed and at home. I take time to understand each dog’s individual needs — whether that’s gentle walks, playtime, routine, or simply a quiet space to rest. I am reliable, attentive and genuinely love being around dogs. Your dog’s comfort, safety and happiness will always come first.

First time using a dog sitter and was visiting the area for a wedding, so was unable to take Alfie, but there was no need to worry as Rachel was great, she was caring and calm made both me and Alfie at ease. Had some photos sent and Alfie was out on a walk enjoying himself and sitting on his cooling mat. Alfie doesn't play with toys so nothing else to comfort him. Would highly recommend

Rachel was absolutely wonderful with my Sealyham terrier, Deio. He’s often reluctant to stay with someone but he seemed relaxed from the moment we dropped him off. Rachel kept in regular touch with messages and photos which was brilliant.

Rachel looked after my Border Collie and I couldn’t have asked for better care. She made sure he had plenty of walks, lots of playtime, and a comfortable environment while boarding. It was clear from the start how genuinely caring and attentive she is she treated him like her own. I felt completely at ease knowing he was in safe hands. Rachel is reliable, trustworthy, and clearly loves what she does. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for someone to care for their dog.
