Pet care experience

Your pup is our family’s VIP

Since we don’t have pets of our own and only host one family at a time, your dog is a temporary family member. We’ve spent 14+ years sitting for friends, family, and Rover guests, and we have a real soft spot for the “quiet types”: seniors, anxious pups, or reactive dogs who just want a calm, predictable home and a human companion. Because that first 24 hours is always an adjustment, we focus on stays of two nights or more.

Relaxing family home for our quirky senior dog who has anxiety and is not social with other dogs. He looked so relaxed and comfortable the entire time, and Rachel and CW kept us up to date every day with cute pictures and great details. My dog came back much more relaxed, just like how we came back from our holidays 🌴

This was our first stay with them. They were very conscientious and had toys, but there was a vibe of skittishness from the get go; Corey didn’t seem all that comfortable at the meet and greet (they don’t have a dog of their own), also the living room that was his indoor area was rather small, but it was just for the weekend on relatively short notice, and my other sitters weren’t available, so I went with it and hoped for the best. In the end, it wasn’t a match. I have the most lovable, easy going six-year-old, chocolate lab, who is chill and easy to care for, but from what I can tell, it seems that they somehow misinterpreted his wanting to play/rough house a little as him being aggressive. Corey said their daughters were afraid of him?!? A chill Labrador retriever who naps most of the day was scary? I can only chalk it up to perhaps them having limited experience, or maybe my dog was bored. But I work from home and he legit sleeps virtually all day until his afternoon walk, so idk. He stayed with another sitter the following week for 9 days, no problem.

Loved the message frequency with updates and pictures of what my pup was up to. My dog seemed happy and well cared for throughout his stay.

Rachel & Cory took excellent care of Duke our 7 year old golden retriever. It's been a few years since we left Duke with a sitter but our minds were put to ease with the well planned out questionnaire that covered over all the care he would need. We did a house visit a few weeks prior to confirming the booking and their home is very well organized and sectioned to ensure Duke's safety. Duke was thoroughly spoilt during his stay with twice daily walks and lots of belly rubs and petting. Rachel and Cory even managed to make him feel calm enough for some brushing which is not his favorite, but needed. Thank you so much for your amazing care & love!

Schedule

We’re homebodies. We’re usually around all weekend, and since we mostly work from home during the week, your dog will be right by our side for pets and backyard breaks. Our exercise style is pretty low-key: supervised fetch in the yard and walks around a mile or two. We aren’t the best fit for high-energy dogs who need long runs or intense exercise to tire out. On the two days a week we head into the office, I (Rachel) come home midday for a dedicated potty break and some fetch or a short walk. We look for guests who are comfortable relaxing on their own for about four hours at a time.

Safety, trust & environment

Your dog has full access to the main living areas of our home and a fenced-in backyard. We don’t have a doggy door, so all outdoor time is with us or our teens. We ask that guests sleep independently in their own crate or bed outside of the family bedrooms.

A typical day

We usually start with a morning neighborhood stroll, then have their morning meal. We'll do some pets and play till work begins. We'll do a midday play session and potty break. Many pups like to curl up on our oversized bean bag and nap in the afternoon. We wrap up the day with an evening walk, meal time, and some playing or cuddling before they head to their crate or designated sleeping spot for the night.

We look for guests who are fully house-trained (no diapers or marking), and current on immunizations and flea meds. We’d love to hear what has (or hasn’t!) worked with past sitters. It really helps us make sure your dog feels at home with us.
