I work remotely on UK/east coast/stock market hours, so cat care fits easily into my week without treating it like an afterthought. I'm free most weekdays and weekends for drop-in visits, feeding, litter, and playtime. Cats do best with consistency, so I try to keep to the same times each day for their comfort rather than squeezing visits in around everything else.

Safety, trust & environment

In-home visits are best. Cats thrive when their space, smells, and routines stay constant. (I do have a secure space available in my home if you need it.) Medical care: I've managed pills, transdermal meds, and IV fluids for 7 of my own cats over 25 years. Adobe Animal Hospital in Los Gatos knows my care for cats well. First bookings: Brief meet-and-greet at your home. This lets us discuss care routines and your cats, and gives you peace of mind seeing me in your space. We'll also note entry points, security (alarm code, door locks), and anything else that matters for your home and pet's safety during my visits.

Information Rachel C. would like to know about your pet

Please tell me about their 'typical' temperament, health needs, medication, favorite toys, what they dislike, any quirks (fear of certain rooms, prey drive around windows). Also: do they prefer to be left alone or do they seek company? Any behavioral issues I should know about? The more specific you are, the better I can care for them and alert you if something seems out of the norm.

A typical day

I check in on your cats, refresh water and food, scoop litter, and spend time engaging with them based on their personality. For active cats, I use their toys and interactive tools (I bring some of my own, too). Seniors like my 18-year-old Elvis get calm, cat-led companionship. I sit, talk quietly, let them set the pace. I send you photos and short notes after every visit so you know how your cat(s) are doing.

Cat care experience

My first exposure to cats was Raisin, my beloved tabby when I was 3 years old. My next cat "of my own" was Spooky, a Russian Blue abandoned in a Seattle Queen Anne Hill apartment building who joined our family when I was a preteen. I've been caring for cats ever since. My husband and I have cared for many cats of all ages over the years and my own cat Elvis just passed at 18, so I know exactly what it takes to care for a senior cat: the feeding schedule, the medication, the careful observation, the quiet corners they retreat to. I'm not the cheapest sitter on here. But I'm the one you don't have to think twice about when it comes to your home space and your loved ones.

I highly recommend Rachel as a pet sitter. She is incredibly responsible, caring, and trustworthy. Rachel has a genuine love for animals. She is attentive to their needs, patient, and always makes sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved. I would feel completely confident leaving my pets in her care and know they would be in wonderful hands!
