Not A Job, But A Joy For Me!
EXPERIENCE: I am and always have been a true animal lover at heart. I was never that kid who convinced their parents to get a dog and then never took care of it. Even at nine years old, when my family adopted our papillon-poodle, Jack, I understood that since furry friends bring us happiness, comfort, and companionship, they should be given the same. I would spend hours trying to teach him one trick, for example, or I would use my lunch breaks during school to come home and walk him! And when he wanted his belly rubs, not even a zombie apocalypse could stop me from dropping whatever I was doing to give him one. Furry friends are such a special part of a person's life– I, on a personal side note, prefer calling them furry friends as opposed to pets, it makes them feel more equal in my life. I give that same energy to every furry friend I meet, dog, cat, bunny, etc. I have experience walking neighbor's dogs and spending time playing with them at dog parks, giving ear rubs and treats to cats, letting bunnies roam around my living room while I read. I am the person that neighbors have turned to in times of need for their pets— whether they've had back surgery and can't walk their dog, or they're trying to run their small business and need to rely on someone else to handle afternoon walks. I have experience giving medications and am not afraid to keep my furry friends in line when they're acting out. Taking care of a furry friend, as with any friendship, is both a joy and a responsibility. I pride myself in being well adept at both.

Safety, trust & environment
SAFETY & ENVIRONMENT: I do live in an apartment with two other people, two cats, and a dog, so taking care of furry friends is a daily occurrence for me! For that reason though, i do not offer sleepovers at my own apartment, but I am happy to stay over with your companion if you are ever away! I usually like to give furry friends two full meals, one in the morning and one in the evening, followed by a small snack before bed. I would of course match that scheduling to your own furry friend’s needs. Dogs are usually walked for around twenty minutes, two-three times a day, depending on their needs, and are let out to use the bathroom at wake up and just before bed. I clean litter boxes usually every other day, or every day if they are especially active. And of course, treats are always available, but not overly given! Helping furry friends maintain a healthy weight is a big priority of mine, while also making sure they feel loved and celebrated. Play time is always included throughout the day.

Rachel is so caring and patient with our rescue pup who can be reticent to interact with anyone outside our family. Rachel shows up when she says she will, gives detailed reports with photos, and it's so nice to know our dog has a chance to get out while we are away. Rachel is a great dog owner and someone who I trust dearly with my animals. I have known Rachel all my life and she is someone who is reliable, countable, and responsible. Rachel will make sure your animal is well taken care of and be respectful towards your space and wishes. Rachel will make sure your pet is well cared for by taking them out on long walks and making sure they have gotten their food and water. Rachel is the best person to take care your dogs and cats!

Schedule
SCHEDULING: I am a freelance filmmaker, so while my schedule can be very busy on some days, it is totally free on others. Those are the days that I like to fill with my own writing and spending time with furry friends. Unfortunately, because my schedule is not always consistent, I am likely unable to accept repeat daily or weekly walks. I try to keep my calendar as up to date as possible with my availability, and when I'm in, I'm all in!
