Since I’m a full-time student, my Rover calendar is currently limited to weekends and school breaks. That said, many families are comfortable having my partner, Ian, join when he’s available—which allows for a little more flexibility with scheduling. It’s a wonderful setup because Ian works from home (and is basically a dog at heart!), so your pets will almost always have company and care. Rest assured, it will only be me caring for your pets unless we’ve discussed and agreed otherwise. I’m also happy to bring Ian to our meet & greet and provide references upon request!

Safety, trust & environment

I am responsible for creating a safe space for pets in their home. I make sure that they are comfortable and their boundaries are respected and understood with the guidance of their body language and the wisdom from their humans. All animals deserve patience, love, and empathy.

Information Qishu Z. would like to know about your pet

Does your dog or cat have particular behaviors that I should be aware of (i.e. obedience training, anxiety, medications & admin/feeding times)? Any toys or activities they particularly enjoy (i.e. cat TV, laser chasing, running, playing fetch, long walks, tricks & treats)? What is their energy level and requirements around that?

A typical day

Regardless of how long we have together, there’s always lots of attention, speaking to your furbaby(ies) in a soft voice a couple octaves higher than normal, smiling, and quality time (whether that be playing, snuggling, pets, etc). I take recommendations from parents on where their pup (or kitty) likes to walk or play and what they like to do. Treats and training reinforcement are also included if that’s something you’d like for us to work on while you’re away. I will feed meals and/or treats if that’s within the scope of the drop-in, stay, or walk.

Pet care experience

First time booking with Rover? Use this promo code for $20 off: QISHUZ24398 Hi there! My name's Qishu (🔑👟). I moved to Oakland in 2023 to pursue a new dream - chiropractic medicine (for animals and humans)! I'm currently a full-time student and will be until the end of 2027. I was previously a sales engineer with IBM. I'd love to help all the cat and dog mamas/papas out here just as I had in Boulder, CO and, before that, Chicago, IL. I grew up with dogs since the age of 8 - mixed breeds, yorkies, labs, pitbulls, shepherds, terriers, corgis, chihuahuas, frenchies.. the list goes on!! One of the moments that confirmed I’d always want to work with animals was in college, when I helped care for my roommate’s pitbull/red heeler mix, Bridget. She is the sweetest girl, though she struggled with anxiety and health issues. Her teeth were worn down from chewing rocks in her past life, and she’d carry a little blanket around whenever she felt distressed. With her special diet, supplements, and medications, Bridget taught me what it meant to truly care for a soul who’d been through so much. That experience deepened my love and empathy for all animals in a way that’s stayed with me ever since. I would be honored to give your pets the love, exercise, and attention they deserve while you're away! I'm a huge advocate for providing pets with a great quality of life - more than just basic food and shelter. I'm happy to do any small extraneous tasks like getting the mail, watering plants, etc. Just let me know in advance! For my cat parents out there: Because of my 3 kids (Kina, Nemr, & Freyja) and a short stint fostering, I'm seasoned in all things cat/kitten: socializing, changing litter, oral admin of meds, treating fleas, bathing, nail trimming, de-shedding, training (sit, high-five, stand, turn-around, kiss).

Rover review - Feb 14-15, 2026 Responsible, trustworthy, tidy, conscientious, funny, accommodating, and highly communicative, I would absolutely book Qishu again in future. Our kitties took to her right away (even our skittish one). We were only away for 1 night but Qishu sent frequent text updates throughout the day, which put us at ease so we could enjoy our time away. She takes great pics and videos, in which we could tell our girls were being very well taken care of and appreciated, and not missing us in the least. In less than 24 hours Qishu managed to play with our high-energy 8-month old to the point of getting her tired enough to pant (as requested), and to gain the trust of our skittish 1-year old, enough to be petted until she was purring and rolling around on the floor, showing belly. This was not requested nor expected; even our closest friends (who our cats have known since they were kittens) haven’t been able to get that close to her! Qishu went the extra mile without our asking, and the results were incredible. When we got home, Cricket and Jiji were happy and relaxed, as if we had never left at all. The house was clean and in order. We have some more travel dates later this year and are crossing our fingers that we will be able to have Qishu look after our girls again. 🤞🏼 Thanks Qishu! You rock! 🤘🏼🎸🤘🏼
