Pet care experience
Animal lover with an ANSC degree!
Hi there! I am a lifelong animal lover with over 15 years of experience caring for dogs and cats of all breeds, ages, and personalities. My background includes working in both veterinary and pet insurance settings, so I’m very comfortable handling pets with all types of medical needs and administering medications safely and correctly (oral, topical, injectable, and more). I am also comfortable with other critters as needed on a case by case basis. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science with a concentration in Equine Science and Companion Animals, and I’ve dedicated my time outside of my 9-5 to helping pets live happy, healthy lives. I currently have two dogs and a cat, a turtle, a tortoise, and 5 fish tanks. This is an animal loving home without a doubt. I understand how stressful it can be to leave your furry family member behind when you travel or need extra help. My goal is to make things easier by providing reliable, compassionate care you can trust, so you can rest easy knowing your pet is in great hands.

Ratings and reviews
Thanks so much for taking the job at such late notice Pilar! The dogs really seemed to enjoy you as a sitter and you can took great care of them while I was gone for the weekend. I appreciate all of the communication and pictures!

Pilar was nothing short of amazing. She was incredibly kind and cared for my little girl as if she were her own. Her excellent communication, warm demeanor, and understanding of pet behavior are truly valuable qualities. I felt completely at ease knowing my pet was in her care, and I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and compassionate caregiver

Pilar has taken care of our dog on several occasions over the past few years, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience each time. She is consistently communicative, which gives us great peace of mind, and it’s clear that she genuinely cares about our dog’s well-being. Our dog is always happy and well cared for after spending time with Pilar. We wholeheartedly recommend her as a reliable, attentive, and thoughtful caregiver.
Pilar is one of the biggest animal lovers I know! She's watched 2x of my cats for short and long-periods of time. Each time, she has been thorough and clear about how they're doing and has spent time with them whenever she visits. I know that they're in good care whenever she visits! :)
Pilar is the best pet sitter! She took amazing care of our 5 cats including 3 that take medication and 1 with behavioral issues. She's thorough and attentive with our cats. They all love her and are always happy to see her.
Where do I even begin? Pilar is one of the very few people I trust to take care of my 7-year-old blind and epileptic pittie, Auggie. Even though he has special needs, Auggie is still SUPER energetic and loves to play with his toys indoors (cue utter chaos) and go on walks; he just needs a lot extra help to do it safely. Pilar has been absolutely amazing with him. She has such genuine compassion for animals, plus real experience caring for pets with special needs (thanks to her own cat and dog). She knows how to give his meds, handle his quirks, and keep him safe *and* she’s strong enough to manage him (he's 65 lbs of pure muscle) on walks when his reactivity kicks in. It’s such a relief knowing Auggie is not only safe with her, but also happy and loved. I can’t recommend Pilar enough.

Schedule
I work from home full-time, which gives me plenty of flexibility to care for pets throughout the day. For boarding, that means I’m able to give them as much or as little attention as they want. Whether they’re social snugglers or prefer their own space. I keep a calm, comfortable environment and make sure their needs are always met. While we do have other animals in the home, I am able to provide a private place for your pet if needed, and typically do dedicate one private space for any cat boarders. Because I have a flexible schedule, I can also easily fit in drop-in visits before or after work, ensuring pets get reliable care and consistent routines. Pet care naturally fits into my day because it’s something I genuinely enjoy and prioritize. All animals must be dog and cat friendly. If you're boarding a cat, they will NOT have access to our cat since they're a bit more difficult to socialize.

Home characteristics
Safety, trust & environment
When caring for pets in my home, I focus on creating a calm, comfortable environment where the animal can feel safe and relaxed. I follow their normal routines as closely as possible regarding feeding times, litter maintenance, playtime, and quiet time! I also make sure they get the right balance of attention and independence based on their personality. When I’m caring for pets in a client’s home, I treat their space and routines with the same respect and care I would my own. I pay close attention to any specific instructions for feeding, medications, or enrichment, and always take time to make pets feel loved and secure while their people are away. Communication is key for me, so I provide updates and photos to give you peace of mind every step of the way.
Pets
A typical day
I love to give your pets all of the love and attention that you'd give them at home. I work from home and typically my small dog naps by my side during that, but when he's got some energy we take breaks in the backyard, do licky mat enrichment, etc. Whatever your pet may need, I can adjust to!
