I am a remote worker that dictates her own hours so I will be able to work from your home and adjust my work schedule to suit your pet's routine. I believe maintaining their routine is very important. Pets are already stressed with their owners going away so a similar routine gives them some sense of normality and allows them to adjust quicker. I will ask when you usually feed, treat and walk so I can continue this routine. Walking routes, where they are and aren't allowed to go in the house, etc, so that I can maintain the routine and boundaries as far as possible.

Safety, trust & environment

I am an excellent home carer and am often invited to stay in friends, family and clients' homes when away as I have a reputation for leaving things in as good or better condition than when I arrived. I am fastidiously clean and tidy as well as quite handy, so will maintain a clean environment that is in good working order. You will likely come home to find your home in better condition than when you left! I am very security-minded and conscious of people's privacy and energy bills so tend to close up rooms that are not in use, keep the areas that are in use in good working order, and lock up properly. For any customers with special dietary observances in their home - I know how to keep a Kosher kitchen and am happy to keep a vegetarian/vegan diet while staying there. I am also an experienced boater, with a Helmsman's Certificate, so if it is a pet and boat sit I am more than capable of cruising.

Information Philippa C. would like to know about your pet

I am happy to sit most breeds and always ask that we have a chemistry meet for the pet and I to meet to see if we connect and I am a good fit. In that meeting we can discuss things like the pets' routine in terms of walking, eating, treats, play, medication, etc. Its also good to know all their nuances and tricks - for example are they likely to pee/poo in the house, what triggers this, do they have a usual spot, etc? Do they tend to steal food and what food can they absolutely not eat? For cats, are they allowed outside to come and go, do they tend to go roaming and not come home for hours or days, if so where do they usually go to and what can I do to entice them home? PLEASE BE HONEST - I have had it happen often that the owner downplays or fails to mention certain things, but pets will reveal all eventually. It is always better I know in advance so that I am prepared.

A typical day

Having had experience with huskies, a breed that is very high energy and requires lots of stimulation, I am very comfortable helping dogs burn off their excess energy. This of course really depends on their needs however - Great Danes for example should not be walked or exercised too much and allowed to chill and move at their own pace. Again, I defer to the pet parents to tell me what the routine/play they are used to. While on the walks I like to throw balls and sticks for dogs to fetch, chew on and wrestle with so that we really burn off the excess energy. At home similar play always goes down well, where we will throw toys and wrestle with toys. Cats love it when jingling things are tied onto string to chase and play with. Cuddles, belly rubs and regular treats alongside mild training also go down very well.

Pet care experience

I have a natural ability with animals who gravitate towards me. This may come from growing up in a home with lots of pets (dogs, cats, rabbits, birds and fish), or my generally calm and loving nature. I started caring for other people's pets and homes when I moved to London 25 years ago and friends/family started asking me to look after their pets when they went on holiday. This has turned into me looking after a variety of cats and dogs all over the world over the years, and am particularly adept at larger dogs (such as Great Danes and Huskies) as few can handle these magestic beasts. I believe in maintaining the pets routine while you are away, as too much change creates chaos, anxiety and misbehaviour, so will ask when you usually feed, treat and walk so I can continue this routine. I am comfortable giving pets medication (even cats) and handling litter trays. If I sound like a good fit for you, your home and your fur baby, lets book a chemistry call for us to meet. After all, I believe your pet is as integral in choosing their sitter as we are!

Philippa was absolutely perfect -a great dog sitter -our Cockapoo settled with her immediately and made himself at home on her lap and bed! She looked after him and our home so well, following our instructions so we can highly recommend her. A real weight off our minds giving us the freedom and confidence to leave our fur baby! Thank you Philippa😊

Philippa has such a caring touch, our senior doggy warmed up to her straight away so we knew it would be a good fit. She kept us up to date daily with photos and videos which was very reassuring. The home was kept clean during her stay and we as a whole felt very respected. Strongly recommend

Philippa is warm, friendly, calm and competent. I immediately felt comfortable with her and I could see that my puppy, Molly, did as well. She gave me regular updates during the house sit and kept Molly happy and entertained. I would highly recommend Philippa and will be using her services again.
