Pet care is an integral part of my daily routine, thanks to my border collie, who keeps me on my toes. She’s very task-oriented and can be high or low-energy depending on what we are up to (I know that isn’t exactly the stereotype for border collies, I’m very lucky!). Our day usually starts with a morning bathroom break, followed by starting my work day. Around lunchtime, we take a break for some exercise—the length depends on the weather and how she’s feeling. Some days, it’s a quick 30 minutes; other days, we stretch it out to 90 minutes. I believe it’s crucial for dogs to get physical stimulation, so I make sure she gets what she needs. Throughout the day, I often incorporate short training sessions or provide her with a natural chew or puzzle to keep her mentally stimulated. In the evening, we might head out for some more exercise, but regardless, she gets taken out a couple more times before bedtime. Your dog would join us for this routine, enjoying the same exercise, mental stimulation, and care that my dog does. It’s all about keeping them happy, healthy, and well-loved!

I’m dedicated to making sure your dog feels right at home while respecting their unique needs and routine. If your pup doesn’t free-feed, I’m happy to keep their food up on the counter until meal times. We have a crate that can comfortably fit a medium to large dog, which we use as a cozy space for resting or calming down—not as punishment. If your dog is used to sleeping in a crate, they’ll have that option here too. For those dogs who aren’t great off-leash but still need to stretch their legs, I’ve got 50 and 100-foot leashes so they can run around safely at the park. And while dogs are welcome on all our furniture, I completely understand if you’d prefer they stay off—I’m more than happy to keep things consistent with what they’re used to at home. I also send photo updates throughout the day so you can see what we are up to and get a little dose of puppy love while you’re apart. My main goal is to ensure your dog feels loved, comfortable, and well taken care of during their stay.

What about dog parks or open space off-leash areas? Are they good with kids? Plus, it’s super helpful to know what motivates them most—whether it’s food, affection, or toys—so I can keep them happy and engaged while they’re here.
A typical day
I’m all about making sure dogs get both the physical and mental stimulation they need to stay happy and healthy. We’re out at the park every day, playing fetch with a tennis ball or frisbee—perfect for burning off some energy! At home, we’ve got a basket full of toys and chews that dogs can dive into whenever they want. For a longer-lasting treat, I love giving my dog natural chews like Himalayan cheese sticks and bully sticks, so feel free to pack some for your pup—they’ll have something fun to work on during the day. We also get creative with lick pads, spreading on some xylitol-free peanut butter or yogurt and then freezing it for an extra tasty challenge. On the weekend if we don’t have a hike planned, we like to go to dog parks or have puppy playdates. Plus, my dog is super friendly and always excited to make new friends, so your dog will have a buddy to play with and share in all the fun!

Hi there! I’m a dog lover who’s been through all the stages—puppy, teenage, and senior—with multiple dogs, so I’ve seen it all. I work from home, which means I’m around all day to give your dog plenty of attention and care. My own dog, a young and super friendly border collie, gets lots of exercise (about 30-90 minutes a day), and we have a beautiful green field right across the street where we love to play fetch. I’m a big believer in positive reinforcement and just completed a year of intensive training with my pup, using food and toys to encourage good behavior. I also love providing mental stimulation alongside physical exercise, so your dog will get a well-rounded experience here. If your dog tends to run, no worries—I have 50 and 100-foot leashes to keep them safe in our unfenced park. My border collie is very playful and respectful, and she’d be thrilled to share her toys and make a new friend. I’ve had dogs all my life, including a rough-coated collie growing up and my family’s current German Shepherd, so I’m very comfortable with large breeds. Our boarding plans for Thanksgiving day weekend fell through and we needed to pivot quickly. We are glad that Phil was available. Phil provided exceptional care for our dog Riley.
