Pet care experience

Loving, reliable pet care

Having grown up surrounded by both dogs and cats, animals have always been a central part of my life. Since moving away from home, I’ve cared for two wonderful dogs of my own. Sadly, I lost my beloved companion earlier this year. While I’m not quite ready for a new pet, I truly miss the joy and companionship pets bring to a home. I have first-hand experience with pets who have extra needs. My most recent dog suffered from back issues and, in his later years, became deaf and partially blind. He also struggled with separation anxiety, so I know how important it is to provide patient, attentive and compassionate care. I always put a pet’s needs first, whether that means sticking to a strict medication schedule, providing extra comfort and reassurance or simply being there so they never feel alone. I understand that every pet is unique, and I pride myself on adapting to their individual personalities and requirements, whether they’re energetic puppies, senior companions or pets with individual needs. You can trust that your furry family member will be treated with the same love, patience and respect I gave my own. I don't have experience looking after cats but having grown up with them I understand that cats often appreciate a gentle, patient approach and enjoy having their own space and routines respected. I’m happy to provide playtime, cuddles (when they want them!), and quiet companionship, as well as take care of feeding, litter trays, and any special requirements your cat may have. If your pet has particular preferences or quirks, I’ll make sure to follow your guidance closely.

Pernille is such a sweetheart! We booked Zaza in for daycare at the last minute, and she kindly accepted without hesitation. She took him on a lovely long walk, kept us updated with lots of photos, and took great care of him. To top it all off, on our way back to Newbury, our car tyre went flat and the recovery company said it would take around four hours. I called Pernille, explained the situation, and she immediately offered to drop Zaza home, driving all the way from Hungerford to Newbury. We can’t thank her enough for her kindness and going above and beyond. Highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring and reliable dog sitter!

I cannot thank Pernille and Tim enough for looking after Roger. Roger has recently been diagnosed with dementia so was concerned about leaving him, but Pernille made the whole thing so simple from the beginning. Nothing was too much trouble and she was completely unfazed by medications or his idiosyncrasies. She made sure I received plenty of updates which put me at ease. I would not hesitate to use Pernille again or recommend her services! Thank you again!

Schedule

I work from home three days a week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) and am also available at weekends. Should you require boarding for a full week I am able to adjust my time in the office to enable me to be home full time for the duration of your pets stay. My work schedule is pretty flexible so I can ensure your dog is let out as frequently as needed and will be able to walk them before work, during my lunch break and after work as needed. And i always welcome an impromptu play time break too.
