Pet care experience
Let Go of Fear While You're Away
Since I was born, I've not known life without pets. My childhood dog, a beagle mix, paved the way as I took my first steps. She would even sometimes playfully bite my leg (see picture to prove this). When I was 8 years old, my brother and I begged my mom for a cat. Her stipulations were classic (and reasonable): those who wanted the pet in the first place are responsible for the care taking! So, my brother and I took turns with the feeding, scooping the litter box, and playing with her. To my dismay, she grew attached to my brother instead of me. But then, a couple of years later, we added a new cat to the family: Odie (the black cat pictured). He is still in my life to this day, though he’s living out his golden years in the home we grew up in. Some of my most valuable pet care experience came from working at a doggy daycare center. It was one of those environments that threw you into the deep end so that you could learn how to swim. I was a Dog Handler, in which I patrolled the yard filled with 40-90 free roaming dogs of all different breeds, shapes, sizes, temperaments, and personalities. As you can imagine, quarrels and kerfuffles of all kinds were breaking out just about every sixty seconds. My job was to mediate and make sure everyone was safe and getting along. It was not for the weak! Additionally, we would kennel the dogs during mealtimes and perform "pup checks" which were simply physicals to make sure the dogs were in good health and report any changes while their owners were away. Not to mention in order to effectively fulfill the job duties, I had to memorize every dog's name and breed! My most recent pet care experience prior to Rover was when I worked for my hometown's local version of Rover (Kansas City Pet Pals). It’s the exact same concept, just a local spin on it. Whether it is playing with your animals, feeding them, administering meds, scooping litter, or simply keeping them company, I am 100% there 🩷 ⭐️ TLDR ⭐️ I know we’ve all got busy lives, so if you don’t want to take time to read this, the short and sweet version is: I grew up loving and caring for pets, worked for a year at a doggy daycare center, and worked for a local pet sitting business called Kansas City Pet Pals.

Qualifications
Safety, trust & environment
In client homes, I begin by greeting the pet and reading the energy. Are they excited to see me or are they timid and keeping their distance? I adjust my routine depending on the needs of the pet. After greeting your pet and giving affection, I’d move on to the tasks, whether that’s walking your dog, scooping the litter boxes, or feeding or playing with your pet(s).
Ratings and reviews
Payton is incredible! Our dog had knee surgery and had some medical needs. We were nervous about leaving her with the extra work, but Payton took such amazing care of our dog. 100% would recommend hiring Payton to watch your dog. Great communication, sends photos, and treats our dog like her own.
Payton did drop in visits for our two cats while we went on a two week vacation. She was great with communication and sending photos for each visit. The cats were well taken care of while we were away. I recommend Payton as a friendly and reliable person. Thanks Payton!

Payton is a tremendous help and was fantastic my my dog! Right away it was super apparent how much she cares. Would recommend Thank you!

Payton is absolutely wonderful! Kind, reliable & so sweet with our cat. She took amazing care of her, sent great videos & even taught her a new trick! We couldn’t be happier & will definitely book her again.

Wonderful with the dog and good at communicating about his whole time with her!

Payton is the most conscientious person I have ever met. She takes every single job she does seriously and cares very deeply for the people she works with (and their pets). Payton has pet sit for me and it always turns out great!

Schedule
Come the middle of August, I’ll have all the free time in the world to care for your pets! My goal is to begin pet sitting full time.
