I'm mostly at home since I work remotely for an INGO, and my daughter is at school until 3.15 pm. During weekdays, your dog or cat will be with me in the house most of the time, except when dropping off or picking up my kid from school. If your dog is with me, he/she will come with me on my morning runs and our evening long walks. My schedule varies over the weekend, but your pet can be with me exercising, eating/dining at friendly-pet restaurants, or picnicking at Lincoln Park. All this flexibility lets me be present for my family, friends, and animals, which is very important for my small family in DC. Happy to adjust according to what you think your dog/cats prefer.

Safety, trust & environment

My home is dog and cat-proof! I make it a priority to ensure that every pet in my care feels loved and comfortable. This includes setting aside dedicated time for individual attention, whether it's through walks in the neighborhood or quiet petting sessions where they can relax and feel safe. Each pet has specific dietary needs, so I carefully manage their feeding schedules, making sure I have a good supply of their favorite foods and any necessary supplements. I also ask tutors/parents for a variety of toys they love and use to engage them, providing not just physical exercise but also mental stimulation. Playing with familiar toys helps to create a sense of security and joy for the pets. Additionally, I am very attentive to their behavior and health. I've trained myself to recognize signs that something might be off, whether it's a change in appetite, energy level, or mood. In those moments, I rely on two trusted emergency vets who are just a short distance away, ensuring that we can get immediate care if needed. Being prepared for any situation helps me provide peace of mind for both the pets and their owners. I have no issues cleaning litter boxes as it is key to keep cats healthy, and long walks for dogs' enjoyment.

Information Paulina I. would like to know about your pet

What are they afraid of? How can I calm them down and help them feel at home away from home? Their likes, favorite shows to watch (ha!), how long they enjoy walking, or if they prefer running... Of course, if they take any medications or require special care.

A typical day

Taking the dog park, going for runs and walks, and with kitties, playing at home or watching animal (birds!!) shows! When heading to the dog park, I enjoy letting the pup socialize. It’s a great way for them to burn off energy, and I always bring along some toys for fetch or tug-of-war, and sometimes we explore the park trails for a change of scenery. Going for runs and walks is another favorite activity. I love the fresh air and the bond it creates with my furry friend. Whether it’s an early morning jog or a leisurely evening stroll, it's the perfect way to unwind while keeping fit. I often switch up our routes to explore new neighborhoods or parks, keeping things exciting. At home, I enjoy playing with cats, whether it's engaging them with feather toys or watching them chase laser pointers. They have such unique personalities, and I love discovering their quirky behaviors. On quieter days, we can often be found curled up on the couch together, enjoying nature shows about different animals. It's fascinating to learn about wildlife and watch their natural behaviors, and my kitties seem to enjoy the visuals just as much! Overall, spending time with animals, whether at the park, out for a run, or snuggled up at home, brings me so much joy and fulfillment. I'm basically someone who has a bit of her life resolved and under control, so there are no major stresses to transmit to the animals.

Pet care experience

My name is Paulina, and Washington, D.C., is my home away from home. I have a 7-year-old, and when she isn't at school, you can find us at La Ballena, my farm in Chile. There, we have 16 dogs, 7 cats, 30 hens, 2 ducks, 2 turkeys, 2 pigs, 6 horses, 2 cows, 2 sheep, and 3 goats. I nurture my soul and thrive in my relationship with animals, and when I am in D.C., I miss them. So, I decided to join Rover to enjoy being around animals here as well! I have been dedicated to caring for animals for the last 30 years and have been involved in rescuing them for over 20 years. To me, animals are not just pets but part of the family. I have a deep understanding of their needs and behaviors, having cared for little furry kids, senior animals, and even those with health issues. Throughout my journey, I've learned that each animal has its unique personality and requirements. I prioritize spending time with them, whether it’s through long walks or simply showering them with affection. I believe that building a strong bond through connection is essential for their well-being and happiness. Being around animals brings me joy, and I strive to create a nurturing environment where they can thrive. My experience has taught me to recognize signs of distress or discomfort and respond appropriately. I advocate for their health, happiness, and safety, ensuring they receive the love and care they deserve. Whether it’s a playful puppy, a wise old cat, or a pet with special needs, I embrace the opportunity to positively impact their lives just as much as they have a positive impact on me. My commitment goes beyond basic care; I aim to enrich their lives and make them feel loved and secure.

Paulina was excellent! She went above and beyond to take care of my young puppy. I’d definitely have my dog stay with her again.

Paulina was truly the best Rover sitter we’ve had in six years of using the app. From the start, we felt completely comfortable leaving Olive with her. She kept us updated with lots of photos and videos, which gave us real peace of mind while we were away. It meant a lot to see how relaxed and happy Olive was. What stood out most was how at home Paulina made her feel. You could tell she was comfortable and well loved the entire time. We’ll absolutely be booking with Paulina again and can’t recommend her enough.

Paulina was wonderful. I got lots of updates, and she clearly cares and knows a lot about dogs. Her flight delay made doing a meet and greet the day before tricky, but she made time the morning of to ensure we'd all be comfortable. I will definitely use her again.
