Pet care experience

Experience and flexibility

I truly love animals. In addition to dogs and cats, I have cared for birds, pigs, ferrets, goats, chickens, fish, guinea pigs, various reptiles, and more. Always interested in learning about other species, and would be delighted to add to my experience. That said, dogs will always hold the number one spot in my heart. I am that person who must pet every dog I see (or say hi at the very least). Meeting new dogs and getting to hang out with them is the very best part of this job. In the past 30 years, I have shared my home with dozens of rescue dogs, multiple foster dogs, and many temporary or long-term boarders. I feel extremely comfortable with all types and temperaments, and am confident in my ability to interpret body language and behavior. I WILL win your dog over! However long it takes. Dogs that board with me have full run of the house and yard via the dog door. My fenced yard is approximately an acre and mostly woods, with a trail around the perimeter. It tends to be a huge hit with active dogs--though even couch potatoes seem to enjoy a good sniff session as they meander about. Dogs are welcome on the furniture, including the bed (the more the merrier). I don't crate except by request. If your dog is a puppy and/ or a known chewer, I will crate for their own safety during the brief times I must be away. I also care for dogs/ cats/ others via drop-in visits or house sitting. I am not able at this time to offer constant care house sitting, but can commit to approximately 7 pm to 9 am, with 1-2 additional visits during the day. I WILL respond when contacted, and show up as promised. I look forward to meeting you and your pets!

Paula did a wonderful job tending to OK (orange kitty) and Mr. Gray. We received daily notifications and photos. She even brought her own supply of cool water for them. Our minds were at ease knowing that she was taking care of them.

Schedule

I love pet sitting, but opt for quality care over quantity, which means I am not running from house to house all day every day. It also means I usually have availability for last minute requests, and your pet(s) will never get short shrift because I am overwhelmed or pressed for time. I have been there/ done that, and it is not for me. I have another part time job this is also flexible/ work from home.

Safety, trust & environment

I do not have children, so pets come first. Dogs who board in my home are generally with me constantly, playing with toys, chewing on bones, or just snoozing. While outdoor access is always available, most wait to accompany me as we have outside time often during the day. In your home, I will stick as closely as possible to your pet's normal routine and schedule.

Pets

A typical day

I love a dog who loves a good game of fetch! Always up for whatever play your pet is into. Most just want company, kindness, and understanding--not to mention adherence to routine whenever possible.

I need to know about food and exercise routines, food allergies if any, medications if any, physical limitations if any, likes and dislikes--all of it! If your pet has quirks or weird habits, I'd like to hear about them. My goal is always to make your pet feel calm, content, and secure, whether in your home or mine.
