Information Paul Y. would like to know about your pet

I enjoy the company of all breeds of dogs. But I would like to know about YOUR individual dog. When we first meet, I have a questionnaire I would review with you including questions such as: Does your dog have any fears? Is he or she dog reactive? What allergies or health conditions should I be aware of?

A typical day

Walking, hiking, and (weather permitting) swimming. And of course snuggling! Lots of snuggling!

Pet care experience

I've always been a dog lover, but I became a real "dog person" about 10 years ago, when I volunteered with an ADI-accredited organization to foster and train a Golden Retriever puppy to become a service dog. Dempsey, I am proud to say, was valedictorian of his litter, the first to pass the ADI public access test! Since Dempsey graduated, got a job, and moved out, my wife and I got another puppy. We home-schooled Dylan, and he passed his AKC Canine Good Citizen test with flying colors. He is now a TDI-certified therapy dog. You may see him at the local pet store, helping me shop by pushing the cart. We have fun swimming, hiking, and playing fetch and hide and seek. The benefit is, I love having fun with dogs, but I also know how to communicate with them. I only use clicker training and positive reinforcement; I never punish dogs. On walks (or hikes!) I will not use "choke collars." If you have a “choke collar,” I will bring my own Gentle Leader/Halti, harness, or martingale collar. In addition to training, I've volunteered with a Golden Retriever rescue. I have experience babysitting senior and special needs dogs, including giving insulin shots, pills, and sub-q fluids (both plain lactated Ringer's, or using the medication port). I just love being with dogs, and I look forward to spending time with your little guy or girl!

As usual, Paul did an outstanding job caring for our animals. They were both content and happy upon our return and the house was in great shape. Pippa especially benefited from the attention and socialization she received from him.

This is the first time we used Rover and we were a bit nervous needing to leave our very anxious Aussie with anyone, as she does not befriend every human. I chose Paul because he is listed also as a trainer and hoped he would know how to work with our girl to keep her at ease while we were away. Paul visited us once before our trip to get to know our sydney and we were beyond happy with his skills and progress with her already on the first day. Paul went above and beyond to make sure Sydney was well cared for. He not only followed our written care instructions well, but he also spent time working through some of her anxious behaviors while with her, which was so much more than we expected. He sent us pictures and texts of their time together. It was so amazing to see their progress and it felt he really knew how to work with her to keep her at ease and super happy. Sydney made a new best friend while we were away. We would definitely ask for Paul again in the future and I’d refer Paul to anyone who is looking for someone who truly cares about dogs.

Paul was FANTASTIC with my pups. It was New Year’s Eve and he was kind enough to come last minute. Felt very safe with him there! Will definitely book with him again.
