I work from home full-time, which means your dog will never be short on attention, supervision, or companionship. I’m a new resident of Noe Valley with easy outdoor access, and my days are structured around frequent breaks for walks, play, and fresh air. We spend lots of time exploring the neighborhood and nearby green spaces, making sure pups get both physical activity and mental stimulation throughout the day. My schedule is extremely flexible, and I love building my day around my dog’s needs; whether that means extra playtime, relaxed companionship, or sticking closely to an established routine. Your pup will be cared for with patience, presence, and plenty of love.

My miniature Australian Shepherd, Hank, will happily keep your pup company...for everyone’s comfort and safety, visiting dogs should be comfortable being around other dogs. Outside the home, I always keep dogs on leash and close by. I take safety seriously and stay in full control at all times, knowing that unpredictable situations can happen. At home, I’m very flexible and will follow your preferences. Your dog is welcome to sleep in a crate or on the bed, and while dogs are allowed on the furniture in my home, I’m always happy to respect your rules; just let me know what you prefer. Hank eats at 8am and 5pm, but I can easily accommodate different feeding schedules and provide separate feeding spaces for dogs who need them, including those with food sensitivities or guarding behaviors. I’m an immunologist by training with over a decade of experience working with animals in comparative medicine, including handling, injections, training, and general care. This background means I’m calm, observant, and prepared in unexpected situations. You can feel confident knowing your dog is in capable hands, and in the rare case something is beyond my scope, I have quick access to an emergency veterinarian just a few blocks away. Your dog’s safety, comfort, and happiness are always my top priorities.

A typical day
We'll have lots of fun! We have a HUGE box full of every toy imaginable, am near multiple parks in Noe (Eureka and Douglass), and have a house that is pup-friendly. Our special place to walk is down into the Castro, so I’ll be happy to share that with your pup while in my care. With your permission, dog-friendly hiking will be on the docket as well :)

Pet care experience
Dogs have been a constant source of joy and comfort in my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up with two Brittany Spaniels and a rescue Chow, and today I’m a devoted dog parent to my 10 year old Australian Shepherd, Hank. Caring for dogs has never felt like a job to me...it’s simply part of who I am. Over the years, I’ve come to truly appreciate how special dogs are. Intuitive, loyal, and always there when we need them most. I treat every dog in my care as a beloved family member, with plenty of patience, affection, and attention to their individual needs. I have decades of hands-on experience with dogs of all ages and personalities, including basic training (potty and general manners), bathing and grooming, behavioral awareness, and (I think most importantly) lots of quality playtime and outdoor fun. Whether your dog loves long walks, games, cuddles, or just relaxed companionship, I’ll make sure they feel safe, happy, and well-loved while you’re away. I’m so excited to meet you and your pup and to provide the kind of care I’d want for my own.
Reviews

Paul was fantastic! So great with our dog, responsive, and sent really cute pictures. It means the world to know our pup has someone to cuddle with while we're away. Already planning on booking another boarding!

Paul cared for my dog Noski for a few days and was thoughtful from the start about making sure it was a good fit. He immediately put me at ease with his experience caring for dogs with special needs, especially Noski’s recent epilepsy diagnosis. When my flight was delayed, he was very accommodating with pickup time, which helped ease the travel anxiety of leaving your dog with someone else. Now that we’ve gone back for more sitting, Noski’s own positive review is his happy tail wagging as soon as we arrive.

Thank you Paul for looking after Izzy- she was in good spirits when we picked her up and seemed to have had a good, relaxing time. Appreciate your calm and responsible manner as well as the photos while we were away.

My pug loves staying with Paul! He is responsive and takes great care of our little guy when he stays with him.
