I have had and cared for pets for most of my life. I believe pets are members of the family and deserve great care and treatment. Some of my special skills are making your dog feel welcome, safe, and comfortable while in my care. For as long as I can remember, people have commented to me that I have a special way with dogs, within minutes of meeting them they just warm up to me quickly and I have an instant new friend. If your dog has special needs, I have quite a long history of working with special needs dogs. I am open to learning the special needs your dog may have to ensure they are receiving the appropriate help and also so you will feel comfortable while away from them knowing they are in good hands. Some of the special needs dogs I have cared for include dogs who have been diagnosed with IVDD, across the spectrum of the illness from crate rest to paralysis. I have rehabilitated dachshunds after having back and neck surgery for IVDD, including 8 plus years experience with a paralyzed dachshund who needs bladder maintenance (expression) done for loss of bladder control. I have experience giving subcutaneous fluids. I have taken care of dog with a heart condition, and know the signs to be on the lookout for in the event of heart failure. I also have experience caring for dogs with dementia. I enjoy the company of all dogs, each one is very special in their own unique way. Senior dogs are extra special and I have always enjoyed caring for them, taking the time to be extra gentle, loving, and patient while they adjust to a new environment.
