Since I am newly retired, my schedule has freed up a bit. I am able to visit your dog or cat without much notice. Also, since I do not overbook, your pet gets my full attention.

Information Patrick L. would like to know about your pet
My current dog, Oscar, was a stray when we got him. Due to his various anxieties, he needs a lot of love and patience. On walks, he sometimes puts on the brakes when he comes across young children playing. We will either wait until he is comfortable to continue or redirect to an easier route. Sometimes hugs help too.
A typical day
Walks are great opportunities to stimulate the dog's senses. Also, if the dog is interested in toys, tossing the ball around or playing tug-o-war usually are fun play ideas.

Pet care experience
Hello! I am Patrick and new to Rover, but not to pet care. For the past 25+ years, I have had both dogs and cats to keep me company. In total, I have housed 3 German Shepherds, 2 mutts, 2 Maine Coons and 3 short haired cats. The German Shepherds were all from rescues and were special needs, disabled, or shut-down dogs. I made sure that each one lived its best life. One of my favorites was Clover, a true ball dog that loved the beach. In her later years she developed a condition that paralyzed her hind legs. I made sure she still got her daily walks by using a cart for mobility so she never felt left behind. I am comfortable caring for all ages and sizes of dogs and cats. Even though I am retired, I am still young and strong and able to handle any situation. I would love to set up a Meet & Greet to see how I can best assist. I can also help with the routine house stuff like collecting mail, watering plants, turning on lights, etc. while I am with your pet.
Reviews

My Hunnie is very anxious, Patrick was so patient with her. He shows up on time, love his personality! I will definitely use his help again!
Patrick is fantastic. He is reliable, conscientious, and clearly very comfortable with animals. He followed all of our care instructions carefully, which allowed us to relax and not worry while we were away. You can tell he goes beyond the basics to make sure pets are not just cared for, but are also happy. We highly recommend him and wouldn't hesitate to have him back.
I highly recommend Patrick as a dog sitter and caregiver. He has owned and cared for rescue German Shepherds for many years, giving him extensive experience with dogs of different personalities, ages, and needs. His patience, calm energy, and genuine love for animals are evident the moment you see him interact with any dog. Patrick has watched our labradoodle, Penny, several times, including overnight stays, and she absolutely loves being boarded at his house. Every time we drop her off, her tail starts wagging the moment she sees him, and she runs right to the door. We always feel completely at ease knowing she’s in his care—she gets plenty of playtime, affection, and attention. If you’re looking for someone responsible, trustworthy, and naturally great with dogs, Patrick is an exceptional choice.
I have known Pat for years, and he is one of the most reliable, dependable people I know. He is kind, calm, and gentle with animals (people too!). He has provided a home to countless rescue dogs and cats over the years, and has a ton of direct experience caring for animals with really varied personalities and needs. I highly recommend Patrick as a caregiver for your pets too.
