Availability
I am not currently working outside of the home, so I have a lot of flexibility. While in Maryland, I often perform with some musical ensembles that hold evening rehearsals that run about 2 hours, so if your pet needs constant supervision, this should be considered. PLEASE NOTE: For overnight, longer-term pet/housesitting I prefer locations in New England.

Safety, trust & environment
Because some dogs and cats can be stressed by new environments, I would prefer to care for dogs and cats in their own home. One exception is my occasional care for cats that need to be removed from their premises for their own safety (e.g. when exterminators are working).
Information Pamela V. would like to know about your pet
The more details I have about how to care for your dog, the better the care I can deliver. I believe in adhering to all rules/preferences that owners request, because obviously they know their pet better than anyone else!
A typical day
First thing in the morning, a quick bathroom walk, breakfast, rest, longer walk with play. Afternoon walk, dinner. Lots of cuddling. Evening walk as well.

I love them like they're my own!
Pet care experience
I've had dogs, cats, birds, guinea pigs, fish, and even aquatic frogs in my life since I was about 7 years old. We currently only have guinea pigs in the house, but this past summer we had the joy and pleasure of having our daughter's dog live with us for a few months, and it was glorious! While my daughter was at work, I was responsible for feeding, walking, and playing with her dog. Being a biomedical scientist, I am extremely cautious when it comes to giving any pet table food without asking the owner first. I have owned cats for a good part of my life, and occasionally cat-sit for a friend when her apartment is being treated for pests. We have some extended family members that are allergic to cats, so we don't currently have any cats in our home. Because our current schedule doesn't really allow it and because we take pet ownership VERY seriously (meaning cats, and especially dogs need and should have lots of attention) we don't have a dog... but would love to have one sometime in the future. Having Pumpkin (the pup) in our lives was wonderful. To satisfy that love for furry friends, I thought I would offer some services on Rover. I am a retired Neuroscience researcher, but recently went back to school for my BA in Music Composition, so I am always looking for places away from the distractions of my home to work on my compositions.

Reviews

Pamela did a wonderful job caring for my 2 cats. She is dependable. She sent me pictures of my kitties and gave me a thorough update on my kitties every time she came to visit. I was lucky she was available to take care of my kitties.

Amazing care and always responsive! Excellent in every way!

Pamela is very nice and good with my dog. He took to her right away, definitely recommend!

Pamela has cared for our dog (and house) several times. We are so grateful to have found such a trustworthy, caring, responsive sitter. Pamela has great communication skills and sends daily videos/photos and updates. We always come home to a happy dog and a sparkling clean home.
