Your dog will LOVE my private park

***NOTE: if you are a NEW prospective client, unfortunately, I DO NOT ACCEPT LAST MINUTE BOOKINGS. All dogs are required to have a meet and greet, prior to their first stay. ***NOTE: I am now accepting NEW CLIENTS at this time. My dog hosting is more akin to a "members only - private dog club" ... as I am selective with the dogs that I will host. Schedule a MEET & GREET if you would like to be considered for a FUTURE stay. ======================== I've boarded the dogs of friends and fostered rescue dogs for years, and I LOVE it. I've done agility events with my dog and she is an AKC Canine Good Citizen. I will be happy to share my knowledge, energy and individualized attention with your dog. I study dog behavior and will keep your dog safe, happy, and both physically and mentally stimulated while in my care. I do REQUIRE A MEET AND GREET for all new dogs. Over the years, I've taken the time to carefully cultivate a nice group of regular dog clients, that all get along with each other. I do board or provide day care for more than one dog at a time. I am available for dog sitting most of the time, but as this is a 24/7 responsibility, I do take a week long break, once a month, (or for 2 weeks every couple of months,) ... also to let the grassy yard recover from all of the dog play. Your dog will have great fun and be totally at ease in my safe and dog friendly home, where they can lounge on the furniture or run in my private dog park. I look forward to meeting you and your dog soon !

Pamela was the best! She sent lots of pictures and has a great set up for the dogs. It was clear my dogs were well taken care of and they had a great time.

Pamela was amazing!! Luke is used to having a back yard to wander around in so being at Pamela’s was like home to him! He came back happy and I’m sure he had a blast playing with the other doggos that were also staying. Pamela looked after him like he was her own so I am very grateful for the love and attention he was given as he can get separation anxiety the older he gets (he’s 11 years old now!). Will definitely be sending my little guy back if we need to go away again!

My pup had a wonderful stay at Pam’s. She met lots of new friends and had a blast playing in her backyard. Pam understands different dogs and knows how to accommodate different personalities. I’m sure my pup can’t wait to go back.

Pamela was great. She watched our dog Lenny. He is a beagle and very high maintenance, and she did super well! Highly recommended. She has a nice back yard and also a lot of dogs to play with.

Pamela is truly exceptional. I left my dog, Oreo, with her while I was away in New York City, and I had complete peace of mind the entire time — which is no small thing when you’re across the country. Pamela is wonderful with dogs and clearly loves what she does. She has a great group of friendly, well-socialized dogs who stay with her, and Oreo fit right in immediately. The environment she provides is honestly a dog’s dream: a huge, beautiful grassy backyard for play and fresh air, plus a gorgeous indoor space just off the yard where the dogs relax, sleep, and stay warm and cozy at night in comfortable beds. It’s clear that Pamela understands dogs — their energy, their comfort, and their emotional needs. Oreo came home happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for. That alone tells me everything. If you’re looking for someone you can fully trust with your dog — someone who treats them like family and gives them an amazing, safe, loving environment — Pamela is the one. I will book her again in a heartbeat and recommend her without hesitation to anyone in Los Angeles.

Schedule

I work from home, in a part-time capacity, and so I have ample time to look after the dogs that I host. Dogs have free access to the backyard all day and into the evening. Dogs do not sleep with me, nor in my bed. The dogs have their own room, with sliding doors that lead to the patio and spacious yard. Breakfast is generally served around 9am, and dinner around 5pm. Dogs must arrive with their own food, as it is important for all dogs to continue to eat their regular diets. As I often host several dogs at the same time, all dogs eat in separate enclosures, to make sure there is zero food competition, to make sure that dogs only eat their own food and so that I can monitor who is eating their food well, and who might not be, (which could be an indication of health to be aware of.) Dogs can freely be in their lanai lounge room (inside the house), or on the patio (with other lounge furniture) or in the park-like yard, at their leisure. We usually play games sometime during the day, weather dependent. Bedtime and final potty is generally around 10:30-ish .... and morning wake up is around 8a.m.

Safety, trust & environment

My location is fully gated, fenced, walled and secure. This is a residential area, and thus, in respect for my adjacent neighbors, I unfortunately cannot host dogs that are excessively barky. (i.e. dogs cannot have any separation anxiety which produces incessant stress or over excitement barking.) Dogs have their preference of sleeping on the couch, or on in their beds on the floor... and some dogs come with their own crates, (which I think of as Doggy Condos, since dogs are den animals, that tend to feel comfort in cozy places.). Bringing a dog's own crate is fine, & I also have some for those that don't want to transport their own crate. All dogs are not crated, but those that like a den environment, have plenty of "cozy cubbies" for them to nestle in. Generally, the doors are left open for them to come and go from these doggie condos, as they desire.

Pets

A typical day

I have a totally private, high walled and gated, grassy backyard, much like having a PRIVATE PARK ... with lots of toys, and a basic agility course that we can enjoy, if your dog likes,... or... we can lounge on the couch, if that's more your dog's preference. We can practice basic obedience in a fun way, if your dog likes mental engagement. There is plenty of room to run in the yard & play! And cushions to sleep on too. :-) No pesticides are used in my yard. It is fully secure with no way of dog-escape exit. I am totally comfortable with feeding your dog a special diet, or with special instructions. Also good with giving medications. We can go on walks, although, for safety reasons, I prefer to play with them in the backyard, where they can run free and off leash. Walks introduce all kinds of unnecessary safety issues, from loose harnesses... to unknown dogs... to other hazards in an urban setting. Sometimes, I do take my dog to an amazing local park, which is a delight to her senses. I can only take one or two dogs on walks at one time, (for safety reasons,) because I really don't subscribe to dog walking a larger number of dogs at one time. I believe that the walker has to understand & fully accept the responsibility of keeping each dog safe and in being able to be attentive to each dog, 100% of the time. A person walking 8 dogs, just can't do that, & that definitely won't be me :-) I'm very active, and an avid hiker. When I dog walk, I like to go for a couple hours, (if time allows). I am always conscious to walk both my dog and your dog in an environment that is safe, ... being aware of other dogs, other wildlife or any other hazards in the area. If I am hosting multiple dogs, I don't like to leave them alone for long periods of time, and so, when there are multiple dogs... I will not be taking any dogs on long walks or hikes, but instead we will play fetch and chase and other games in my large private-dog-park-like, secure yard. My 14 year old dog, TRIXIE is my LIFE, and is a great companion for other dogs. She gets along great with dogs, people & children. Everyone loves her! She's been very socialized and exposed to many diverse situations. Being that I love my dog the way that I do, I know that you love your dog and want a safe, fun & responsible experience for him/her. You've found the right sitter :-) Contact me and let's meet !

Pamela can host up to 9 pets per night
• A "meet & greet" must take place before ANY first booking. If a longer booking stay is requested, a prior overnight trial-stay is required; it really does help the dog adjust to the new environment also.... and then your dog comes for its stay feeling familiar and already comfortable. • Dogs must be fully house trained. • Dogs must be up to date with all vaccinations. • Dogs must be generally healthy and free of all viruses or contagious health issues. • Dogs should be flea free & clean. • Dogs should be spayed / neutered. • Dogs should be well socialized and have good/basic dog social skills. • Dogs can have no aggression whatsoever. No human aggression. No dog aggression. No food aggression. No resource guarding aggression. • Dogs should have basic obedience skills. That is, the dog should be able to sit, know its name, be able to come when called. • Dogs cannot be wild, nor out of control, with no listening to human commands. • Dogs should not have excessive separation anxiety, nor excessive barking behavior. Barking at the doorbell, gardener, a squirrel or a stranger IS normal; barking non-stop is not. Being in a residential area, I have to be respectful of my neighbors, regarding noise. • I have no breed preferences,... but would like to accept dogs that work well together as a daycare "pack"... i.e. well socialized or open to acclimating to dog socialization. • I do have a preferred weight preference... and do not prefer to host very large dogs. So dogs of small to medium size are very welcomed (3 - 50 pounds). I will only consider very large sized dogs on a case by case basis, dependent on the dog's demeanor & personality. Larger dogs must be gentle. Goldendoodles, Golden Retrievers, Gentle Labradors... tend to be okay. Smaller sized & very gentle German Shepherds can be okay. From prior experience, I, unfortunately choose not to host HUSKIES, SHIBA INUS, PIT BULLS, or mixes thereof. I would prefer if owners are upfront and fully honest about any behavior issues, so these things can be compassionately & proactively, but realistically addressed and considered, so that your dog has a great time! I look forward to meeting your dog.
