Safety, trust & environment
At your home: I'll respect and take care of the environment as well as your companion. For example pest control, watering plants, sweeping. While Rover only offers specific services for cats and dogs, I could take care of other pocket or caged pets you might have at your home, too. At my home: I thoroughly clean in-between cat clients, including vacuuming, sanitizing food bowls and more. I will not take dogs or more than one cat in my home due to the rules of my landlord. If your dog has very upsetting medical red-flags, such as a seizure, persistent vomitting, or other very concerning symptoms then I will take them to the vet ASAP, which may mean before you have seen my message on the matter. I would do this to prevent a medical emergency worsening due to lack of immediate attention. I would expect compensation for the vet and commuting cost. If you need to end the board / house-sit because of this emergency, or if the pet must stay with the vet overnight, you will be refunded the days after which the board/ house-sit abruptly had to end.

Information Oscar s. would like to know about your pet
Let me know first of any allergies or food sensitivies your pet has, as I sometimes provide my own treats and chews. If you have a pet that requires injected medications or has any disabling medical conditions, I will require we meet so you can provide thorough instruction for proper care. This is to ensure I am confident in caring for your dog's special needs prior to our booking. I am okay working with dogs with a history of aggressive behaviors, as I know how to de-escalate a situation.
A typical day
Activities may depend on the needs of the particular pet, but generally I will: - let a dog sniff as much as they'd like on a walk, as long as they are in a safe location to do so - set-up and let a dog use a puzzle treat-dispensing toy or sniffle mat, usually if I may be away for a while - play fetch with a frisbee or ball at a dog park - keep the pet well-brushed, if a brush is provided & if the pet does not find it uncomfortable - take higher energy/intelligent dogs on a longer walk + not make a low-energy, anxious or senior dog to walk for longer than they'd like to. - try to problem-solve in difficult situations (ex: if the dog is barking at a different dog, block their view of the other dog, use a training cue, or other distraction)

Pet care experience
I'm a student with a passion for dogs & cats. You can rely on me to be a gentle, patient caretaker while I'm with your furry friends. I pay attention to signs of stress, like "whale eyes," and respect the boundaries of the dog setting them. And don't worry, I'm prepared for some behavior management there and some mess clean-up here, it's part of the job! TRANSPARENCY: I will communicate with you with photo, video, and textual updates whether or not they are requested. I will especially let you in on any red flags for medical problems like refusing food or vomit. BOARDING: I am currently only taking pets from one client at a time, as my apartment is not large enough to separate pets (especially two or more dogs) if issues arise. I will take up to two medium-large dogs at once. I will take up to three small dogs (0-20 lb) or cats. You will be expected to provide dog/cat food, harness/collar, any medications, and pee pads if necessary. Optionally you can provide comfort items like a crate, blanket, or toys. I will not accept pets that are reactive / aggressive for boarding, but will for other services. DROP INS VS. WALKS: A drop-in may consist of: feeding/watering the pet, sweeping/scooping/refilling litter, and a short walk (10-15 minutes). A walk usually does not have at-home tasks such as feeding, just a 30 minute walk, though I will provide opportunities for water from my dog-water bottle especially if it's a hot day, throughout the walk. BOARDING OR HOUSE-SITTING?: I would recommend boarding if you have pets that are accustomed to transitioning between locations, and are friendly toward/tolerate meeting new people. I would recommend house-sitting if your pet has separation-anxiety, if they may see new environments/people as threats, if budget is an issue, or if they are a senior. IF YOU have a pet that requires injected medications or has any disabling medical conditions, I will require we meet so you can provide thorough instruction for proper care. This is to ensure I am confident in caring for your dog's special needs prior to our booking.
