Availability

Because I am a small business owner, I have a very flexible schedule that can change depending on the needs of my clients - whether that’s in a drop-in, walk, or boarding service. Our canine clients often spend the day with my at my storefront, then come hone with me in the evenings to hang out until bedtime. Depending on the dog and the preferences of the owner, they may also participate in group classes as a demo dog to help show the exercises being taught.

Safety, trust & environment

I am currently living in an apartment that opens outside to a large yard. Dogs are kept on a long line, unless otherwise specified by their owner that they are able to be reliably off leash. Even with owner permission, I typically avoid any off leash time that could potentially lead to the dog escaping or getting injured. I also have a very structured system in my home, where I introduce dogs through a parallel pack walk before letting them interact either indoors or outdoors. I also spend a significant amount of time working on calm and impulse control, and avoid letting pets in my home get overly excited.

Information Olivia C. would like to know about your pet

Probably the only thing I would like to know ahead of time would be any serious behavioural or medical considerations. If you have any specific training you are working on or routines you would like your dog to follow, please let me know and I can accommodate for them. Anything to help your pup be as comfortable and happy as possible is appreciated!

A typical day

On a typical week day, your dog will get to come with me to work and be a shop dog for the day. On the weekend, we will often split our time between being outdoors and hanging out at home. We are fairly active, but also enjoy days spent relaxing and recharging for the upcoming week. I also have several enrichment toys and other activities available for dogs to use during their stay.

Pet care experience

Hello! My name is Olivia, and I am an experienced dog owner who runs my own training, grooming and pet care business in New Hamburg called Canine Community Corner. We offer a wide variety of services, such as boarding, walking, drop in visits, bath and brush, and nail trim services. We also carry a wide variety of pet care products in our storefront, most of which are made by other local small businesses. In my home, I have 2 dogs and a cat. In the past I have also had a bearded dragon, a chameleon, hamster, rats, and mice, so I am experienced with a wide range of animals. During their stay with us, your pet will receive flexible 5 star care, depending on their needs and preferences. My dogs and I are avid hikers, and often spend our free time out on walks through the forest. If your dog prefers to stay home, we are also able to provide a calm and quiet environment for the duration of their stay. I also have a wide variety of actives they can do at my facility in the case of bad weather, including a treadmill, obstacle training, and scent work activities. My goal and belief as a pet professional is that services should be catered to each specific client, and not a one size fits all model. Because of the size of our living space and the nature of my job/business, I do require that any dogs coming to stay with us are crate trained and that their crate is brought with them. This not only allows for a smooth and stress-free stay, but provides your dog with a familiar safe space in a new environment. If your dog has any sort of separation anxiety, please let me know beforehand so I can plan accordingly. Feel free to message me with questions at any time!

We had our 11-month-old puppy stay with Olivia for a weekend. It was our first time booking with her because our regular sitters weren't available. She was able to accommodate us on fairly short notice, which we appreciated. We met Olivia on the day of drop-off, and everything initially seemed fine. She mentioned that she sometimes forgets to send updates during a stay unless the owner reaches out first, and unfortunately that ended up being exactly our experience. We didn't receive any proactive updates throughout our puppy's stay unless we specifically asked. When we did check in, she said everything was going well, except that our puppy needed some time to settle in with her dogs. The biggest surprise came two days later when the Rover team contacted us to let us know that our puppy may have injured one of Olivia's dogs. Our puppy has always been extremely friendly, energetic, and enthusiastic about playing with both dogs and people. We made this clear during the booking process. Olivia also told us she had a process for introducing client dogs to her own pets, so we felt confident leaving him in her care. Based on what happened, it doesn't seem that the introduction went as smoothly as expected. And she didn't even mention anything about it at the time of pickup or during the stay. Our puppy has stayed with other sitters who have dogs for longer periods without any incidents or similar feedback, so hearing this through Rover rather than directly from Olivia was unexpected and concerning. If you're looking for a sitter who provides regular communication and proactive updates, or if you have an active, energetic dog, I wouldn't personally recommend Olivia based on our experience. I don't leave negative reviews lightly, but unfortunately this stay did not meet our expectations in terms of communication or the overall experience.

Olívia, was available at short notice and she found a place for my puppy Charlie. She kept me posted about him and gave Charlie an amazing time for the 2 days he stayed with her. You can tell be brief moment when I met her that she is a dog lover. She is definitely my first option in town to take care of Charlie when I need.
