A dogs life :)

Pet care experience

Hi! I’m Oli. I take animals and their healthy care very seriously; it’s a privilege as well as a duty. When it comes to dogs, they need to run but they also need to sniff things, and mark things, and socialise - they need to do the things that are meaningful to dogs in order to be at their best, emotionally as well as physically. Walking isn't just about exercise; its about having time to be a dog in a human world. I have had greyhounds, collies, labs, dalmatians, pugs, jacks, norfolks, and chihuahuas under my care, among others, and never had a problem with discipline (except with my own chihuahua, who seems to have me under his paw, to my eternal shame!). I will only ever walk 2, or in the case of well behaved dogs, sometimes 3 dogs at a time. I see many if not most walkers out with 6 dogs attached to them, walking very slowly for 30 mins. This may be cheaper, but it’s not a “walk” as I understand it. Most of the dogs’ time is spent in a van in a cage picking up all the other dogs. This is bad. Price is negotiable for repeat/ongoing customers :) REDEEM THIS CODE TO GET £20 OFF FIRST BOOKING! OLIVEH49062

Oliver is fantastic with Luna. Flexible when I need him to be and great at keeping me up to date. Luna enjoys her time with Oliver and they have a real bond now which is great and reassuring for me. Thanks Oliver!

Oli has had my black Lab Fergie on a few occasions now and has been great. Fergie enjoys going to spend time with Oli and Milo and always comes back well exercised and in good spirits.

Oli has a safe and reliable set of hands that have consistently exceeded our expectations. It has been our pleasure to employ the Ol’ster, and we will continue to utilise Oli’s skillset to care for and walk our precious Angus.

Lovely Oliver looked after our little working Cocker Spaniel Jazzy whenever we were away. Even when she was very elderly and not the easiest, he was patient, kind and loving to her. She was always so thrilled to see him that I went off without any worries at all and totally justifiably so. He is a thoroughly nice guy, utterly trustworthy and responsible. I would recommend him to anyone.

I will want to meet a new dog outside, with the owner, preferably so they can sniff and inspect me, I will usually bring some liver paste which marks me to the dog as a great human. Then if the owner is at the house/flat the first time I take the dog out by itself thing usually go very smoothly.

Information Oliver H. would like to know about your pet

No breed preferences, but any specific fears or behaviours the dog has are important to know: eg hiding when a plane goes overhead, or a fear of kites or a need to chase skateboarders in a frenzy - I've had dogs do all these.

A typical day

We will walk along the Firth for an hour each day, as I do with my dog. My flat is 100 metres from the river so its ideal, and there are always lots of dogs and people to meet - social dogs love it.
