Pet care experience

Excited to meet your furry friends!

Hi, I'm Nova (they/them)! I'm a life-long dog lover and owner, and I'm always happy to offer love and quality care to other people's doggos! I have a chocolate/black lab (+ Beagle or pointer maybe?) named Whiskey who's about 5 years old, and she loves to make new friends! My family has had a total of 8 dogs, almost all of which we've had as part of the family until they passed on. My family currently has three small dogs, one of which has had a front leg amputated. I'm moderately familiar with higher needs like this but I may refuse taking responsibility for a dog with more serious needs. I have a passion for dog and animal psychology, and I'm always passively training the dogs I watch with positive reinforcements and gentle corrections. I use body language and lower tone/pitch of voice to offer corrections and guidance. Then, I positively reinforce with attention (and training treats, when supplied)! I recently met a new pack of 3 dogs, and within 5 minutes, their pet parents were commenting on how well their dogs were responding to me entering the space. I love to help people discover how to truly *listen* to the ways dogs communicate with us! Pets are people too, and I always treat them with the same love I'd show a new human friend. Given the tools, I'm quite a skilled pet-bather for friends of many sizes, if they happen to get messy. I enjoy walking alongside my four-legged buddies and making visits to the dog park when the weather is nice. There's always another adventure to be found! Unfortunately, I'm allergic to cats, so I can't handle being in a home with 3 or more of them for any amount of time. I assess each request individually, so feel free to request if there's only one or two cats in your space.

I am a repeat customer. Nova is the best - very responsible, loves my dogs, administers their medicine, and very reliable. Can't wait to rebook Nova for my next trip!

Nova is a dog whisperer. She has experience and great instincts with dogs. The dogs were so well cared for while I was away, and learned some new positive behaviors as well. I won't hesitate to call on Nova's expertise again.

Nova stayed with our three pups for a week and was fabulous. One of our dogs can be particularly naughty and she set boundaries with him early and became the pack leader during her stay. Even did some training with them and gave us some tips on things to continue to work on with them. The house was clean and tidy…as if she was never there! We definitely will call on Nova again!!

Nova stayed in our home for several days to take care of our sweet Layla. She was very communicative and made us feel comfortable. I think she and Layla had a blast and we would absolutely hire her again!

Schedule

Please note: I cannot offer 24/7 care for more than one day. 24/7 care costs more than ensuring they're comfy and happy with the potential for 2-4 hours away at a time. If you're looking for constant care (where I do not leave at all), please disclose this when you request my services so I can make sure I'm appropriately available.

Cats
0 to 15 lbs
16 to 40 lbs
41 to 100 lbs
Nova can host up to 1 pet per night
I will need to know ahead of time if a dog is very anxious or has extremely high energy, needs medication administered, or has a potential for biting. Please tell me these things when you request my services if any are applicable so I can decide if I'm able to provide the care you need!
