I work from home in consulting, and have a lot of flexibility over my schedule. I am an early riser and love to start my day with some form of exercise. I love to walk my foster dogs for at least 25 minutes in the morning and am accustomed to having to implement multiple walks a day. I also have quite a few toys and tricks to mentally stimulate dogs as needed! While I love the dog park, there can sometimes be a lot of room for error, and I can make sure that your dog is happy and played out just by walking/playing together!

Safety, trust & environment
I live with my boyfriend on the first floor of a row home with a small deck out back. I have crate trained a few of my foster dogs, house trained almost all of them, and am comfortable using the crate as needed. As a City Dog foster, I had to pass a home inspection and have three credible references prior to being approved, and my home is dog-proof and extremely safe. I clean often and make sure everything is out of reach.

Information Nina C. would like to know about your pet
In your introductory message, please respond to the following questions to help me ascertain 1) if your pup and me are a good fit, and 2) if I can provide the service you're requesting. I normally respond as promptly as I can. Are the dates and times listed in your request accurate? Is there any reason they'd be subject to change (flights, other travel scenarios, etc.)? Does your pet have leash reactivity? Are they dog-selective? Would you prefer for me to avoid other dogs all together? Any behaviors during human meal times or other situations that I should know about (barking, needing to be crated, etc.)? Are there any training techniques or commands that I should maintain while your dog stays with me? Most important: I ask that all Rover parents be communicative, transparent, and professional when it comes to any Rover service you are asking me to do. If you are unable to communicate thoroughly and consistently prior to the service, I will be unable to help you. If you are interested in boarding your dog in my home, please prioritize a meet and greet prior to any boarding commitments. I appreciate clients who are on time, communicative about any issues, and mindful of ensuring the experience is fantastic for both the dog and me!
A typical day
I have water and food bowls for your pet, so no need to bring them along! If a crate is required, I will ask you to supply that. I love taking long walks/“sniffaris” with dogs that I'm caring for and making sure they're having the best experience possible. If your dog is social and open to going to the dog park: we live close to the Shaw park. If the dog park isn't something you want us to do, I am happy to do long walks (at least 25 minutes or more) in addition to other short walks throughout the day and give them LOTS of attention!

Certified Dog Foster/Dog Mom
Pet care experience
My name is Nina and I rescued my first dog Nala in September 2016 while in college at Towson University. Nala was 7 years old at the time and had a lot of standard behaviors associated with a traumatized dog -- resource guarding, anxiety, stubbornness, and lack of trust. As Nala and I grew up together, we learned to trust one another and it's clear we were made for each other. As she gradually became older and starting having health issues (incontinence, arthritis, and eventually cancer), my role transitioned from just "dog mom" to eventually "care taker". Nala passed away peacefully on March 7, 2022. Since then, I have been fostering dogs in Nala's honor through City Dogs in Washington DC. I have fostered a range of breeds, ages, and helped dogs become adopted and find their forever home. My first foster, Amaya, was a six month old Blue Heeler mix that I had for three months. I taught Amaya how to walk up stairs and trained her to become comfortable with the crate, going to the bathroom outside, and basic commands. When I'm not fostering, I love to be able to play with and interact with dogs, and I have a soft spot for rescues and older dogs.
Reviews

We love Nina and highly recommend her!! Peaches is obsessed and well taken care of.

Nina is great and Peaches absolutely loves spending time with her! Nina is always responsive, sends frequent updates, and takes amazing care of Peaches. We’d recommend Nina to everyone!

Nina took wonderful care of Romie while I was away. She made sure he felt comfortable and helped him settle in, and she took him on long walks which he loves. She was also very communicative and sent frequent updates and pictures, which gave me a lot of peace of mind. It was clear Romie was well cared for and happy during his stay. I would absolutely book with her again.

Peaches always has the BEST time at Nina’s. She is always well cared for and I get tons of photos of her cuddled up. We will definitely book again!!
