I have a large fenced yard and a single level home 8 steps above ground. Your dog will spend most of their time wherever I happen to be and will be given regular potty breaks. Your dog will enjoy romping in the yard for extended periods under supervision, but will not be left unattended in the yard. Please provide detailed feeding and medication instructions and I will follow them to the letter. Tell me about your dog's special likes, dislikes, fears, and behavioral quirks so we can make dog feel at home. Your dog must be able to manage the steps to get in and out of the house, be willing to use the doggie ramp, or be small enough for me to carry up and down. Must be housebroken. Please provide crate if crate trained and more comfortable in the crate. Or, provide favorite bed or blanket. Otherwise, we have a collection of blankets. Please bring your dog's favorite toy. Some large dogs accepted, depending on size, breed, and degree of training. A meet and greet is a must for most dogs. Pit bulls, Rottweilers, and Dobermans will not be accepted under any circumstances. I realize that many individual dogs are very sweet, but as a rule, these breeds unnerve me, and the dog will sense that.

A typical day
A typical day at our house includes breakfast and a morning romp around our 1 acre lot. Then your pup can play and follow me as I putter around in the house and garden. At some point during the day we will either go to Carmel Beach or for a walk in our neighborhood, which may include off leash play in a field near our house (if that's OK with you and your dog will respond to my voice commands). About once a week, we take the dog to a relatively new sniffing area. If your dog likes water and it's safe, we may go wading in the Carmel River behind our house. Or in summer, when the river bed is dry, we may go for a walk down the river bed. Depending on how your dog feels about the car, it may accompany me on my errands. Later in the day, the pup will keep me company while I sew or knit.

Pet care experience
I've had dogs nearly my entire life, enjoying them from puppyhood to senior age. As my kids grew up, I have also taken care of hamsters, bunnies, lizards, turtles, and parakeets. But most of all, I love dogs. My dog Rainie is an English lab, half chocolate/half yellow who loves playing with other dogs, especially other labs. I'm very familiar with the needs and limitations of senior dogs and can adapt our routines accordingly. I only host one dog at a time to ensure everyone gets enough peace and pettings. We can host caged pets at the same time (small reptiles and parakeets).
Reviews

Nina was great and took care of my pup like she was her own. They have a large backyard and a very friendly pup themselves, I have no reservations booking with her again.

Nina took great care of our active lab, Rookie. Nina did a nice job of communicating with us during Rookie's stay and sent daily pictures, videos and updates. Rookie enjoyed chasing the ball in her large yard and playing with her dog. I have already booked another stay with Nina.

Our dog doesn’t like large doggy daycare settings. That’s why I was happy to find Nina . She went out of her way to make her comfortable and safe in her home. She sent some pictures of Kelsey to make me not worry about her. Thanks Nina.

Nina was an excellent and communicative sitter for my dog. She has a great yard and I think my dog already misses it! Nina’s dog Ranie is a great playmate and kindly shared her toys with my dog. I just moved to this area, so I feel really lucky to have found Nina right away!
