Pet care experience

Pet lover, local optimist!

Hi there! I’m Nick, and welcome to my little pet care business. Before sending me a booking request, I just ask that you scroll down and read my policies first to make sure it’s a good fit. Thank you for your interest! 🐶😸 — A quick bio: I’m a life-long pet owner with a background in writing, photography, and business. What started out as a side hustle has blossomed into my favorite career of all time - caring for your furry friends! I work in the central Denver area and offer daytime dog walks and drop-in visits, as well as 24/7 house sitting (in your home) services. My experience: Over the last 4 years, I’ve logged thousands of hours walking, playing with, feeding, and caring for dogs, cats, and other animals. Most of my business relationships are long-term, frequent repeat clients whose pets I’ve gotten to know very well! Feel free to read some of those reviews on my profile. I’m experienced at handing leash-pullers, escape artists, senior animals, kittens and puppies, special diets and routines, and administering injection, topical, and oral medications to pups and cats - including those who may not be so thrilled about taking it! I’m also a non-smoker, a non-drinker, and have a dependable car available at all times. Please read about my services and policies below, and reach out if you think we’d be a great fit! I offer all new clients a FREE meet and greet. — For House Sitting Clients (What to Expect): House sitting is all-day (including overnight) care for your pets and home while you are away. This includes both pet care (feeding, exercise, playing, medicine, love and attention) and home care (watering plants, taking out trash, bringing in mail, keeping things tidy, handling emergencies). While at a house sit, I aim to be home at least 16 hours per day (usually longer), and to not be gone for more than 5 hours at a time. I always follow pet and home care instructions to the letter, and send (at minimum) daily updates with lots of pet pictures and a summary of how each day went! *****Important Policies on House Sitting***** 1) I have a firm three-night minimum for house sit bookings. For major holidays (Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas) it’s a five-night minimum. 2) I can only finalize house sit bookings if your plans are also finalized (i.e. no “holding spots” while you figure out your actual dates). You are still welcome to inquire, of course! 3) During a house sit i am happy to walk your pup(s) up to two times per day, for up to 60 minutes total per day! For pups that need more than that, I’m happy to walk them longer for a fee (depending on how long). We would of course discuss this before booking so there are no surprises. Thank you for understanding! For Dog Walking and Drop-in Visits (What to Expect): For these booking types, you are purchasing my time (either 30 or 60 minutes) and i am happy to provide any reasonable pet-related care (except for bathing) during this time. Time begins upon entering your home and completes upon exiting. For dog walks, i will do my best to do a full 30 or 60 minutes of walking, but it may be slightly less depending on how long it takes to get your pup ready (wrangling them, putting on collar/harness, retrieving doggy bags and treats, etc.). I will of course send plenty of photos and a summary of how it went afterwards! *****Important Policies on Dog Walks/Drop-ins***** 1) My working hours are 7am-5pm M-F, and 7am-2pm Sat & Sun. 2) Due to personal experience, I do not do drop-in visits or dog walks for dogs whose owners are going on vacation and don’t have someone staying with them overnight. Day trips are okay though, as are vacations if you just have cats! If you have dogs and are going on vacation, please check out my House Sitting services! 3) For dog walks, your pups get 100% of my focus and attention - just like when you walk them! I only take one client at a time, never combining multiple clients’ dogs into one walk like the “volume” dog walkers you may see at the park walking ten at once. I always use a leash, and avoid all other dogs to keep yours safe and healthy! 4) For dog walks and drop-in visits, you will book me for a 2-3 hour arrival window, during which i will guarantee my arrival. I’m happy to work with you on what your window will be, but common ones are Morning (7am-10am), Midday (11am-2pm), and Mid Afternoon (2pm-5pm). —

Safety, trust & environment

Safety, trust and environment: I have been a nomad and full-time house sitter for many years, so on any given day i am most likely staying in someone else’s home caring for their pets. The only way I am able to maintain this kind of lifestyle is by respecting the safety and cleanliness of the homeowner’s property (leaving it the same or better than i found it), creating a loving environment for their pets, and proactively and consistently communicating with the owners themselves. I strive to achieve excellent marks in each of these categories for every client I take on. Note on my Availability Calendar: FYI - My availability can be found on the calendar on my Rover profile, and it is usually up to date. However, the House Sitting calendar is a bit wonky in that it marks the first and last day of any sit as “completely booked,” (i.e. grayed out) even if i am available for most of that day. So if the dates you seek are all available except for one at the beginning or end, please feel free to still reach out as i may be available for part, or even most, of that day. Cancellation Policy: For house sitting, I have a 7-day cancellation policy. This means you can cancel anytime for a full refund as long as it is more than seven days out from the start of the booking. If you need to cancel within seven days of the start of the booking, you will still get a 50% refund (the other 50% helps me cover the loss of income and the cost of finding last-minute accommodations). For dog walking and drop-in appointments, you will get a 100% refund for cancelling anytime before 24-hours before the start of the booking. Within 24 hours is a 50% refund. If you have any questions, please let me know!

I cannot recommend Nick enough!! We reached out to him to watch our dog, Laika, while we went on a trip, and every step of the process was smooth and stress free. Nick was incredibly quick and responsive from the start. He followed all of our care instructions to the tee and made sure we were updated frequently and thoroughly while we were away. When we returned, Laika was happy and our house was left in pristine condition. We are so grateful and can’t wait to work with Nick again!

Nick is very communicative and my cat Kitty loves it when he visits. I always know that she is well taken care of when he visits.

Nick did twice-daily visits with our senior cat for 10 days over the Thanksgiving holiday and was a dream. Photos and updates every day, communication when needed for issues, friendly and trustworthy. Will book again!

Schedule

Schedule: I am a full-time pet care professional, this is my main business and source of income! That means my daily schedule revolves around the needs of my clients and their pets. On a typical day, I will have a couple hours of dog walks or drop-in visits booked in the morning, and a few in the afternoon. Then I will spend the majority of my day at the house sit i have booked, spending time caring for those pets. In terms of my availability for dog walks/drop-in visits, my working hours are roughly 7am-5pm M-F, and 7am-2pm Sat & Sun. Once i’ve been booked for 6-8 hours in a day (usually 2-3 in the morning, and 4-5 in the afternoon), i stop taking bookings for that day so that I can spend the rest of my time with my house sitting pets.

Cats
0 to 15 lbs
16 to 40 lbs
41 to 100 lbs
over 101 lbs
Dogs over 1 year old
Nick can host up to 8 drop-ins per day
If your pet has any special needs or requirements, please let me know so I can account for them. I’d also love to know about your pet’s temperament (personality, energy level, how they are around people and other pets, if applicable), so that I can adjust our activities accordingly.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
