After recently closing my dog treat business, I knew my heart was still firmly in the world of dogs. Transitioning into dog walking and drop-in visits feels like the perfect next step, and I’m excited to offer my full commitment to this work. I spend a lot of time exploring the beautiful, quiet areas around us, and being able to share those walks with other people’s dogs is something I genuinely look forward to. We’re lucky to live in a place with so many peaceful spots, which is ideal for dogs who may be reactive or need a more low-stress environment. This isn’t just a side job, it’s what I want to do full-time. I’m unavailable Saturdays and Sundays, as that’s dedicated to training at my dog sport club with my own two dogs. Otherwise, I’m here and ready to give your dog the care, exercise, and attention they deserve.

Safety, trust & environment

When caring for your dog, my approach is always tailored to their individual needs. For dogs that require extra focus, I incorporate positive reinforcement techniques like focus work using food, helping keep them engaged and reinforcing good behavior. If your dog is already working with a trainer, I’m happy to continue with any commands or behaviors they’re learning, ensuring consistency in their training. I’m also mindful of each dog’s energy level and preferences, offering walks in quiet, peaceful areas or, if needed, I can book a secure field for more controlled, off-leash time. We are lucky to have access to local, secure dog-only fields, perfect for dogs who need a little extra space to run and play safely. Whether your dog is social, reactive, or needs a quiet walk, I ensure they get the care, exercise, and mental stimulation they need in a safe, positive environment.

Information Nicholas H. would like to know about your pet

For reactive dogs, it’s important for me to understand their specific triggers - whether it's other dogs, people, vehicles, or certain environments - so I can plan safe and stress-free walks. I’d also like to know what their body language looks like when they’re starting to feel uncomfortable, and what strategies have worked well for you in the past to help them refocus or calm down. If you're working with a trainer, I’m happy to follow any ongoing plans or techniques to keep everything consistent. Please also let me know if they have any reactivity while on-lead, how they respond to being approached, and if they are comfortable with equipment like muzzles, harnesses, or long lines. The more I know, the better I can support your dog and make sure they feel safe, respected, and understood while in my care. I always recommend a meet and greet beforehand so we can all feel confident that your dog and I are a good match and can start building a great relationship from day one.

A typical day

A typical day with me is all about making sure each dog feels happy, fulfilled, and understood. Depending on their needs, we might head out for a peaceful walk through one of the many quiet local trails or enjoy some time in a secure dog-only field where they can run freely and safely. I love incorporating fun, mentally stimulating activities like basic obedience, scent games and focus work using food - perfect for building engagement and boosting confidence. For dogs who are more playful, we’ll enjoy games like fetch, tug, or exploring new scents together. Everything is tailored to their personality, energy level, and any guidance you or your trainer have in place. My goal is to give your dog a safe, enjoyable experience that keeps their mind and body active, while also maintaining their routine and reinforcing positive behaviours.

Reactive & High Drive Dogs Welcome!

Pet care experience

Hi! I'm an experienced dog handler with two high-drive, working line German Shepherds of my own. I compete in dog sports and truly understand what it takes to meet the mental and physical needs of energetic, driven dogs. I'm confident with all breeds and temperaments, including reactive dogs, and I always take a patient, positive approach. Of course, I also love caring for dogs who are just happy, relaxed companions—every dog is welcome here! Whether your dog is a playful puppy, an active adult, or a slower-paced senior, I tailor my care to suit their individual needs. Your dog's wellbeing and happiness are my top priorities, and you can trust that they’ll be treated like one of my own.
