I've had dogs and other types of pets throughout my life, but the most valuable one has been my chihuahua of 13 years. She was always very spoiled by me though, but even as a spoiled baby, she has always been well mannered and lovely companion. As old as she is now, caring for her becomes even more emotional. I haven't only worked with my own pets. Something that I'm proud of and that made me realize my connection to dogs is that one day I was called by a friend to help them ease down a dog they had adopted that refused to leave the car and was aggressive towards everyone who would try to approach her. It was so bad, that my friend was seriously considering taking the do back to their prevous owner. I asked my friend to give me some time with the dog, because taking her back would only cause her more stress (the previous owners just wanted to get rid of her). I was able to soothe the dog after almost an hour of back and forward process, most of the time I was just seating next to her just giving her time to realize I was there to help and was not a threat, showing my hands and making myself as physically small as posible next to her, and eventually she let me pet her and I took the chance and gently grabbed her, got her out of the car and carried her inside my friend's house. My friends and family were so excited but I had to ask them to keep quiet for a bit so the dog wouldn't freak out with all the sudden noises and happy screams. To this day, I'm the only person that dog hasn't tried to attack or even bite after that night.
