Availability

I’m chronically ill, and cannot work within standard employment expectations. And as such, I won’t be working from home or part time at any point, so puppies and elderly dogs who both require more time and care will not be a problem. Any time that I am busy, I will simply not be offering any bookings on those days, so there will be no compromise as far as focus is concerned

Safety, trust & environment

I have a walled garden, so your pets will be secure. Nothing edible will be left out in the house, and no food is kept in any of the below counter cupboards in the kitchen, so the risk of breaking and entering in a hunger inducing kind of way is nul and void. Any pets will be mainly staying in a cosy living room, but will have free range of most of the downstairs. (The one exception to the “your rules in your home, therefore your rules in mine” rule is that unfortunately no dogs will be allowed upstairs, and the stairs will be blocked off with a gate.

IMPORTANT DISCLAIMERS: WE CANNOT LEGALLY ACCEPT ANY DOGS WHO ARE NOT UP TO DATE ON THEIR VACCINATIONS AND FLEA AND WORM TREATMENTS. IF IT IS NOT DISCLOSED TO US THAT THEY HAVE NOT HAD THESE PREVENTATIVES UNTIL VERY NEAR TO THE START DATE OF THE BOOKING, WE WILL HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO CANCEL, REGARDLESS OF ANY INCONVENIENCE CAUSED. Also, due to my disabilities I use a mobility scooter whenever I am out of the house, if your dog is not lead trained and you haven’t disclosed this to me before your booking, I will not be walking them for our mutual safety - I have serious spinal issues meaning that if I get pulled from my chair, or fall over, it will cause dramatic injuries. I cannot and will not risk that. Also, due to being a wheelchair user, if your dog gets out of their lead or harness and I’m walking them alone, I am not capable of chasing them, meaning that their safety and that of everyone else in our proximity would be at risk alike. Some of the time I will be walking them with my partner, which is very beneficial should something go wrong, but regardless of whether it is one or both of us walking the dog, if they aren’t lead trained we will sadly still not be willing to exercise them outside of the house. Thank you very much for your understanding

A typical day

We’ll be doing lots of fetch and playing with things like bubbles and water (with the weather permitting). They’ll be walked twice per day, but will have constant access to a walled garden. They will also be fawned over mainly by myself and my partner, lots of cuddles and brushing sessions

Pet care experience

I’ve grown up with dogs for all of my life, and have had a lot of experience with pet care of most kinds (including cats, rabbits, birds, and fish that were my neighbours pets) basic canine first aid, dog agility training, and dog training in general. I’m from an agricultural background (my grandpa was a game keeper, he trained and took in any animal that needed it. So the whole family has had working dogs for most of their lives and follow suit with a responsibility to animals.) I will always try my best to prioritise your requirements for your dogs, as I believe that your rules for your pets, and how you care for them, should be consistent regardless of where they may be. It will be a pleasure to be trusted with any pets, and as such trust is necessary, I will never claim to offer something that I cannot - I’d rather not be booked if that means that your dogs can get care more preferable for you and them both!

I left my two pups Charlie & Macie in the care of Neve and Ned at the end of August for a week, whilst I away on holiday. Both pups were happy on initial meeting, which took place at their home, and the following meet up, which took place at mine. They took them for a short walk, and again both pups seemed quite relaxed, content and happy. I know Macie can be a bit fussy about who takes her out for a walk, but she was fine with them, and I felt confident they would be happy. There was a little misunderstanding with dates of my travel, but thankfully everything was okay in the end. They are also in a good location for me, which made it easier for doggy exchange day. Both of my pups were happy when they were returned to me, so I would happily use their services again.

Neve and Ned were incredible. I would highly recommend leaving your dog in their trusting care. Both Neve and Ned were professional and thorough from the outset. They were proactive in establishing meetings with themselves and Otto to ensure that he would, not only be familiar with them and the space, but also to ensure that they would also be able to look after him and give him the best care possible. They had a number of highly relevant and targeted questions which was clearly designed to allow them to understand the needs of the dog. This included questions about their temperament, known words, and any healthcare needs as well as usual routines. A great indicator of how seriously they take their role in caring for your dog. The space is incredibly clean and well furnished. Neve provides a lot of material such as kibble/beds/water bowls etc already for your dog during your stay which takes a massive weight off of your shoulders in case you forget something during the mid-packing rush. It was also a sweet touch that I did not expect but very much welcomed. Neve and Ned do live with other houseguests but where your dog is staying is on the bottom floor, separate and with access to the garden. Otto did not seem to have any issue with this at all. During the stay, Neve and Ned were incredibly sweet. They both provided regular updates on Otto and provided as many photos and videos as I desired to ease my nerves, even if I was a bit overboard in how much I missed my dog. They also kept me updated with any issues, challenges or decisions they had to make while looking after Otto. It was during these points that you could tell both Neve and Ned were really taking on board whatever information you gave them at the start because every decision they made was exactly what I would have made. They also took Otto on a lot of adventures and allowed him to continue socialising. Otto was never really left alone for long if at all, which I'm sure he is missing now that we are back! Neve was also great at ensuring Otto's medical requirements were complied with and kept us up to date on any developments. I really valued being able to follow along and step in if needed so this was very much welcomed. Throughout the stay and before, Neve and Ned have always been kind and thoughtful in how they communicate. It truly made trusting them with Otto easier. Otto clearly enjoyed his time with them and quickly grew fond of the two of them. I am very glad that we chose Neve. Thank you both for taking great care of Otto.
