Pet care experience

Your South Hills Pet-Loving Friend

Hello dear dog parents! I have loved taking care of dogs since the age of 7 (and honestly even before that) and I want to provide a warm 'home-away-from-home' for your pets. Growing up in Ukraine, my family and I always cared for dogs in our home in the countryside. I often assisted my father with training our dogs and providing them a happy and active life. After coming to the USA to work on my PhD, I took care of my in-laws' two dogs and one cat for almost a year when they were away. We are an active homeschooling family and we would love to share our active life with your lovely pet. My four little children (ages 2-8) will never miss an opportunity to pet a friendly dog. Rest assured, your pet will receive lots of gentle care and love during their visit to our home.

Cashmere is one of the family now at Nelia’s and this makes my travels away from her so much easier.

We couldn’t be happier with Nelia. This is the second time she has watched our dog, and once again she went above and beyond. It’s such a relief knowing our dog is well cared for while we’re away. Nelia is incredibly attentive and communicative. Our dog is very comfortable with Nelia and her family. I highly recommend Nelia!

Stella absolutely loved her time with Nelia & Brett! It was clear from the consistent updates and adorable photos that she was happy, relaxed, and well cared for the entire time. We really appreciated how communicative they were—it gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. Stella came home content and clearly had a great experience. We wouldn’t hesitate to book with them again!

I couldn’t have asked for a better dog sitter. From the moment we connected, it was clear how much Nelia genuinely cares about dogs. While I was away, she sent regular updates and pictures, which gave me so much peace of mind. It was obvious my dog was not only well taken care of, but also happy, comfortable, and getting lots of attention. I came home to a relaxed, happy dog. I highly recommend Nelia to anyone looking for a reliable, communicative, and genuinely caring dog sitter. I will definitely book with her again!

Schedule

I teach part-time at a local university, which gives me great flexibility throughout the day. Also, I am a homeschooling parent of four young children so we are home all day and would love to share our life with your sweet dog. Lastly, we love outdoor walking/hiking and try to do it a couple times per day when possible. Nevertheless, we are happy to accommodate our activities to your pet's preferences.

Safety, trust & environment

We have a medium sized fenced in yard at the nexus of the Brookline-Dormont-Mt. Lebanon neighborhoods in Pittsburgh. We have hard floors (wood and tile) throughout the entirety of the house. Our neighborhood is well-designed for safe, sidewalk strolls, and we are in the vicinity of several beautiful municipal parks. If your beloved pet is ready for an adventure beyond our property, we would be happy to explore our quiet neighborhood and surrounding parks with regular walks!

A typical day

We love keeping dogs active throughout the day. I will offer them plenty of walking and running in our friendly and safe neighborhood as well as playing in our secured backyard. We usually start our day with a longer morning walk (unless requested otherwise). After time outside, your lovely pet will enjoy many snuggles with us as we are doing our reading alouds and school with our children. In the afternoon we love to play with your dog in our backyard. Lastly, we love to finish our day with a longer evening walk, which is usually joined by all members of the family.

- How is your dog with the little children? Since we have four little children in the house (ages 2-8), please rest assured that they will always be supervised around your dogs. However, please let me know ahead of time if there is anything I need to be aware of concerning your pet's behavior around children. Also, while we love your high-energy dogs and we will offer them plenty of exercise, they need to get along well with very little children. - How does your dog get along with the other dogs? While we do not have our own pets, we often care for 1 or 2 other dogs. Therefore, your dog must get along with other dogs. We have enough room to offer your dog a privacy if that’s their preference but we just can’t accept aggressive or very anxious dogs. - Important info about your puppies We will gladly care for your cute little puppies and since we are always home, we will give them frequent potty breaks. However, your puppies need to be potty-trained. Occasional accidents are completely normal and anticipated, but we can’t accept puppies who do not understand the concept of potty-training and have constant accidents in the house. Also, due to small children in the house and for the sake of other dogs, your puppies have to be dewormed. - Vaccinations? Lastly, we would need to know that your pet is up-to-date on all of vaccinations and deworming medications.
