Experienced and Reliable Sitter

Hi! I'm Nate, a lifelong animal lover, dedicated pet sitter, and hobbyist dog trainer with 25 years of hands-on pet care experience. I’ve spent nearly my entire life surrounded by animals, from growing up with dogs, cats, birds, and even reptiles to helping friends and family with training and daily care. I share my sitting/drop in duties with my girlfriend Lucie, as pictured. She drops in with me often and assists me in caring for multiple pets at a time. She also has 20+ years of experience in pet care. I’m currently a full-time student entering my final semester, which means I have a flexible schedule and spend lots of time studying quietly at home, perfect for pets who need company, cuddles, or supervision. I'm calm, patient, and excellent with animals of all ages and temperaments, including senior dogs, anxious pups, and high-energy breeds. What I Offer: 🏠 Overnight House Sitting in Salt Lake City 🐾 Dog Walking, Feeding, Medication (if needed) 🛏️ Overnight Care with Full Home Presence 💬 Daily Updates & Photos 🎓 Dog Training Reinforcement (if requested, however I am not a professional nor accredited) Why You’ll Love Working With Me: 25 years of experience = deep intuition & care I treat every pet like family I respect your home and follow your routines Safety and trust are my top priorities I specialize in reading animal behavior and adapting to their needs Whether your dog is a snuggler, a ball-chaser, a couch potato, or a nervous rescue, I will meet them where they are and make sure they feel loved, safe, and secure while you're away. Let’s set up a free Meet & Greet, I’d love to get to know you and your pup!

Safety, trust & environment

When caring for pets in my client’s home, I focus on creating a calm, consistent, and loving environment that mirrors their regular routine. I follow all instructions closely such as feeding schedules, walk times, medication, crate routines, and house rules to ensure your pet feels safe and secure in your absence. I take time to build trust with each animal, giving them the attention, affection, and structure they need to stay happy and relaxed. I also respect your home as if it were my own by keeping things tidy, secure, and well cared for throughout my stay. I provide regular updates and photos, so you can travel with peace of mind knowing your pet and home are in responsible hands.

Nathaniel took excellent care of Benny and Jetson. He performed four drop-in visits over one weekend. He ensured they were fed, potty was cleaned, and even spent some time with them to give them some attention and stimulation. He was able to execute complex care instructions without guidance or support. Upon our arrival home, our dogs were happy, healthy, and our place was well cared for. We will definitely be reaching out to Nathaniel first the next time we need a weekend caretaker for our dogs. Thank you, Nathaniel!

Nathan was absolutely amazing! He was incredibly communicative, and provided tons of pictures and updates while we were away. We had some big anxiety leaving our 16 week old puppy for the first time, but having Nathan here with her really put us at ease. We came home to a super clean house, and a super sweet message. We will absolutely be reaching out again for future trips. He followed all of our directions and was incredibly sweet the entire experience.

Nate was so great with our pup, Fitz. He walked him twice a day, played with him and I always felt assured that our pup was happy and well cared for. Nate also took very good care of our home and I appreciated the daily updates on how things were going with my pup. I will definitely be booking Nate again in the future!

Schedule

I am a final semester student and have a flexible and consistent schedule that allows me to dedicate quality time to pet care. I currently have two upper division classes which require me to study 10-20 hours per week, with one of these classes being in person Tuesday and Thursday from 9:10-10:30, with a study hour directly after, so I would be home at 12:00pm. Outside of that I always study at home, so I would be able to provide plenty of quality time for your pet. I’m available for mid-day walks, evening routines, and overnight stays. Important to note I just began an internship where I work only 15-20 hours per week, with some of those hours spent working from home. I’m able to keep pets company throughout the day and maintain their routines with minimal disruption. Lastly, I regularly attend the gym Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for 1.5 hours in the Millcreek area. Whether it’s early morning potty breaks/walks, afternoon playtime, or cozy evenings together, pet care is something I prioritize and truly enjoy fitting into my daily life. I am extremely flexible, so I’m happy to adjust my routines and schedules around your pet needs, so let’s set up a meet and greet and discuss more!

Feel free to let me know what special needs or schedules your animals have. I don’t care how specific or ritualistic or “weird” your routines are, I will take it on and treat your animals with the same care and intention that you do. As a dog owner most of my life, I know how important it is to make sure an animal feels safe and happy with a stranger. I currently don’t have a large enough living space and cannot afford my own pet. Rover is my way of enjoying life with a pet, so I will treat yours as my own. Lucie and I absolutely love dogs and cats, so you can rest assured your animals will be in great care while you travel.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
