Drop-ins should be more than just a quick 'hello.' It's a chance to invest in the happiness of someone's best friend. Since childhood I've loved training our family's Golden Retrievers and Labs. In college we got my grandmother a German Shepherd and I quickly fell in love with his character and charm and he took good care of her for many years - except on the days when I stole him for a campout in the hammock. When I adopted a young neglected Husky with severe separation anxiety I really began to understand that I was the one being trained. He and the many fosters I took in after him have challenged me to think beyond tricks and good manners to the heart and happiness of the dog. To what really makes a bond.
