Safety, trust & environment

I always spend a few minutes sitting with an animal when I first meet it to get to know it, make it feel comfortable with me. Playing with them, letting them snuggle with me is always a bonus. If they're staying at my house I let them smell and explore. I have a very sweet and patient dog (Bilbo) that is friends with all creatures. I would expect to do a meet and greet with him and other dogs to make sure there are no problems. Our neighbors at the fences have very sweet but loud dogs, and it's best if the dogs I have here are not reactive or constant barkers themselves or it will set them all off constantly. However I have had success limiting some dogs to the porch at times during the day (with access through the dog door to the inside of the house) to limit too much fence aggression or chaos.

Information Nate S. would like to know about your pet

As long as I have instructions and can ask intelligent questions about what a pet needs, I'm not worried about doing whatever is necessary to take care of them.

A typical day

A fenced in backyard allows for plenty of exercise and play, and depending on the energy level of the animal I have balls and toys to wear them all out. Typically Bilbo will either play or let them chase him on his well-established racetrack route around the yard.

Lifetime pet dad/part time trainer

Pet care experience

Animals have always been a part of my life; from energetic puppies to the bittersweet goodbyes. I’ve helped many friends adopt, train, and better understand their pets, and I’ve taken multiple pet training courses for my own education and growth. I’m well-versed in a wide range of behaviors and bring a naturally calm, grounded presence that dogs tend to respond to quickly. My goal is to be both a safe place and a clear, consistent leader, someone the critters can trust and feel secure with. I won’t claim I’ve loved every personality I’ve met (animals are individuals, after all) but I have been able to care for and connect with every one of them. Boundaries and treats go a long way. As for cats, they’re the true rulers of the household. I understand that interaction is always on their terms. Whether they want cuddles, playtime, or simply a respectful roommate while you’re away, I’m happy to meet them exactly where they are. I live in the back half of a small house. I have a fully fenced in backyard and a doggy door so my dog and any others can have full access to both in and outside. I do however have very reactive neighbor dogs at the fence, so if your dog is fence aggressive I may restrict the backyard time to when I'm physically back there with them.

Very last minute booking. Nate was great at accommodating and Gracie was enjoying a nap outside with Nate’s very friendly dog, Biblo. Nice shaded fenced yard.

Nate was fantastic with our 2 playful labs. They fell in love with his pup, Bilbo. Would definitely work with Nate again.

Nate was great! He had a clear process for introducing our girl to the other dogs under his care. He also had a plan for how to manage any tension between the dogs if that were to happen. All of this made us feel very comfortable having Eddy with him. He also had a huge fenced in yard for lots of running. Our dog was in great hands. We would highly recommend him. :)
