Dog care in Markyate

I own 2 dogs and have had dog all my life. In the past I have volunteered at a rescue charity in China whilst working as an English teacher - one of my own dogs was a street dog from China and I brought him back to the UK with me. I’m well known for being a dog lover. One of my favourite past times are having long dog walks in the countryside. I also hold a level 4 in Dog Behaviour, Dog Psychology and Training.

Natasha volunteered at our rescue sanctuary in Hainan, China for approximately a year (Facebook page: Haikou Vetting Assistance Group) She walked, bathed, and played with our rescue doggies and kitties. She has personally rescued 3 newborn kittens and brought them to the sanctuary to be adopted. She also rescued her dog, Tetsu and took him back to the UK. She has shown so much passion and care during her time here and I believe she will be a great carer to those back in the UK.

Schedule

Someone is always home with the dogs so there’s always someone to make sure they’re having the best day. We love having dogs around and enjoy building our day around them, from morning and afternoon walks to couch cuddles and playtime in the garden.

Safety, trust & environment

Your dog will be cared for in a safe, loving home surrounded by dog lovers. We have a large fenced garden with a designated dog area, plus access to our main garden for supervised exploration. Our location on the edge of the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty means countryside walks are just steps away. Our two resident dogs - a playful 5 year old female mastiff and an 8 year old mixed breed are friendly and sociable. Before any booking, I’ll invite you to visit so we can ensure all the dogs are compatible and a great fit. Your pup will receive plenty of love and attention from me, my husband, and our son, who all genuinely adore dogs. We understand every dog is unique and take time with proper introductions to build trust and ensure your dog feels secure and happy. Your dog won’t just be looked after, they’ll be part of our family

A typical day

This really depends on the needs of your dog. I will generally take my dogs for a walk in the morning. I am adjacent to the Chiltern hills, so literally a 5 second walk, and we are in the countryside. We could walk for miles or we could keep walks short paced dependent on your dog. I will be home with your dog all day, along with my other 2 dogs, so your dog will never be alone. We have a generous garden space that the dogs can run around and play in.
