Structured Care & Dog Training

I have over 10 years of experience caring for dogs of different breeds, ages, temperaments, and needs. What matters most to me during a stay is creating a calm, predictable environment where your dog can feel secure while you’re away. I’m very intentional about routine. Meals, walks, potty breaks, rest, play, and bedtime are kept consistent so your dog knows what to expect throughout the day. This is especially valuable for anxious, sensitive, senior, rescue, or easily overstimulated dogs. Rather than treating every day like a new adventure, I help them become comfortable and confident in their routine. I’ve found that many dogs become noticeably more settled as their stay progresses because their days begin to feel familiar and predictable. I also pay close attention to the small things. Every dog has their own preferences, habits, and ways of communicating. One may only settle enough to eat with quiet company nearby, while another feels most comfortable eating in their crate. A senior may need medication incorporated into a particular breakfast routine, while an anxious dog may need a slower morning before they’re ready for a walk. I learn those details and build my care around the individual dog rather than expecting every dog to fit the same schedule. My training background is an important part of how I provide care. I’m experienced at reading body language, recognizing changes in behavior, managing overstimulation, and understanding when a dog needs more structure, movement, space, reassurance, or rest. I maintain household expectations and reinforce the routines and manners your dog already knows rather than allowing everything to disappear simply because their family is away. My goal is for your dog’s stay to feel safe, structured, and genuinely enjoyable—and for you to be able to travel knowing someone is paying attention to the details you would notice if you were home. I provide thoughtful updates throughout the stay so you can see how your dog is eating, settling in, enjoying their routine, and spending their days.

Safety, trust & environment

I care for dogs in the environment where many of them are most comfortable—their own home. I follow the household routine as closely as possible, including feeding schedules, walks, potty routines, medications when applicable, sleeping arrangements, crate routines, and established household boundaries. My training background is especially valuable during longer stays because I pay attention to behavior as well as basic care. Rather than allowing routines to disappear while a family is traveling, I continue reinforcing calm doorway manners, structured walks, leash manners, crate expectations, settling, and other behaviors your dog is already practicing. I keep the home environment calm and orderly and treat my clients’ homes with the same level of care and respect I would expect someone to give my own. I understand that house sitting involves being trusted with both your pet and your home, and I take that responsibility seriously. Throughout the stay, I provide regular updates, photos and videos so you can enjoy your time away knowing exactly how your dog is doing. My goal is simple: when you return home, your dog should feel as though their routine never disappeared.

Naomi always goes above and beyond to make sure our pups are well cared for while we are away. She provides structured routines, lots of love, sends plenty of updates and videos! She is also very well rounded in her knowledge and handling of all types of dog temperaments and needs; our two pups have very different care requirements (ie one with medical needs and one is a young dog with a lot of energy) and she always does a fantastic job with them both! I would highly recommend her! (-:

Naomi is wonderful!! We have two anxious dogs, one of them a rescue, and she put them at ease and took excellent care of them. When they met it was like they’d already known each other! Naomi is kind, professional, and helped me to enjoy the trip away rather than worrying about the dogs!!

Naomi has been working with our Corgi, Biscuit. So far biscuit has learned many commands and there’s more to come. She provides good feedback and helpful homework and responds quick and is flexible with meetings. It’s been a pleasure working with her. Now Biscuit has a little brother, Teddy, and we look forward working with Naomi to get Teddy up to speed 😁

Naomi was a FANTASTIC sitter!! She is thorough, thoughtful, and our pups LOVE her! She has previously helped with training our younger dog and this was our first time using her as an at home sitter. I want to speak about how well she took care of our older dog (Layla) in particular. Layla has a lot of medications/special considerations with her care. Naomi provided daily updates about how she was eating/taking her medications and gave Layla special enrichment time tailored towards her needs away from our younger dog (Nina). As for Nina, she is a rather anxious and high energy dog. Naomi took the time to work with Nina on commands and establish a routine for both pups to reduce anxiety and help them feel at ease while we were away on vacation. I can confidently say that both pups were better behaved and better listeners following Naomi’s stay! Lastly, Naomi left our place organized and clean. Naomi is an all around great choice for any dog parent as she is flexible, tailors her time thoughtfully towards each dogs needs, and understands the individualized care that goes into taking care of each pup she trains/looks after!

Schedule

Dogs thrive when they know what to expect, so structure is a natural part of my day. Walks, meals, potty breaks, rest, enrichment, and training are incorporated into a predictable routine while still being adjusted to each dog’s individual needs. Because I work professionally with dogs, I pay attention to the details that can easily be missed—the way a dog approaches a doorway, reacts to hallway noise, settles after a walk, communicates anxiety, responds to leash pressure, interacts with another dog, or begins showing signs of overstimulation. I’m especially mindful of maintaining the routines and boundaries a family has already established. Whether I’m caring for your dog in your home, taking them on a structured walk, or working with them during a training session, consistency matters. Communication with my clients is equally important. You can expect thoughtful updates, photos and videos, and honest observations about how your dog is doing while in my care.

Before our first service, I like to understand your dog as an individual. Please tell me about their normal routine, feeding schedule, medications or health considerations, potty schedule, exercise needs, sleeping arrangements, training commands, and household rules. I also want to know about behavior. Please share any history of anxiety, reactivity, resource guarding, separation distress, escape behavior, fear, aggression, or sensitivities around people or other animals—even if the behavior only happens occasionally. Finally, tell me what your dog loves. Favorite treats, toys, games, walking routes, enrichment activities, funny habits, and the little things that make them comfortable are just as important. The more I understand about life with your dog, the more closely I can maintain the environment and routine they’re accustomed to.
