I have trained and cared for my own dogs, both small and large breeds, all of my life. As a volunteer at animal shelters here in Austin and the Bay Area in California, I have learned to manage and adapt to varied—and sometimes difficult—dog personalities, temperaments, and needs. I am also very comfortable with large animals, having owned and trained my own horses for decades. As a retired journalist and journalism professor, I bring trustworthiness, reliability, and excellent communication to animal care. I can provide walks, engaging playtime, comfort for anxious animals, and administration of simple medications. I will also strictly follow the owners' guidance and preferences on things like allowing dogs on furniture or beds. Please note: While I am an expert animal caretaker, I am new to the Rover platform. I got very lucky when I decided to give "Rover.com" a try to find an in-home sitter for my Sheepadoodle Cookie Marie. I was more than a little hesitant because I had never before used Rover. I was pleasantly surprised at the ease of use and the quality of service. Nancy N was amazing. From the first time my little dog met her she was in love. I immediately felt like Cookie Marie was in the best hands possible in my absence. During the time I was gone Nancy sent pictures and kept me updated on Cookie's progress. Nancy is simply amazing — truly a beautiful soul. While we were away for three weeks, she took exceptional care of our German Shepherd and gave us complete peace of mind. She consistently went above and beyond, and even took the time to help my mother with our elderly dog as well. We feel incredibly fortunate and blessed to have found Nancy. I work from home as a writer/reasercher on my own flexible schedule. i can accommodate your and your pets' schedules on weekdays as well as weekends.

I provide walks as needed, playtime, comforting if he or she is anxious, simple medicstions and wound-dressing, and and of course feeding and watering on their schedule.

A typical day
With young and high-energy dogs, I play fetch or chase, as this can provide heavier exercise than walking. If your dog likes dog parks, we can go to a nearby dog park, as this also provides more exercise than a walk.
