My husband and I started bringing home furry friends shortly after our marriage 28 years ago. We started with a chinchilla that needed a home and it just grew from there. We've loved four beautiful dogs, a chinchilla, a hamster, a bunny, a salamander and many fish over those years! 19 years ago we added a little boy to the mix who shares our love of all things furry. I do believe he will live on a farm someday. We've loved our dogs through their puppy years all the way through their lives, some short, some very long. Until recently we shared our home with our golden retriever of almost 13 years, Zoey. While we are so sad to lose her, we are happy she had such a happy long life and shared it with some of our Rover friends! Your furry friend will now exclusively have our attention when they visit our home. We have experience with our own pets and caring for others' pets, both in our home and theirs. We are more than comfortable with puppies, crate training and housebreaking (our dogs were bell trained to go outside). We are comfortable with geriatric dog needs and administering medications. I do not work secularly, my husband is self-employed and our 19 year old son lives at home and works with his father, so we have a very flexible schedule to be attentive to your pups needs. As a side note, my husband cleans for a living so if we are caring for a pet in your home, we will leave it spotless! We have a large yard and although not fenced, we live next door to an open field and a school that is perfect for leashed walks! Also if you live nearby you've seen the many trails, river walks and parks we have access to for play and walks. We treat your pet as our own when they stay with us. There are times that all three of us will need to leave the house. At those times we do whatever you would do at home. If your dog is free to roam, we let them roam, if they need to be crated, we will crate them. We also have an indoor camera so we can check on them periodically, if we are out. We try to maintain habits and schedules as reasonably close to yours at home. Let us know if your dog is allowed on the furniture and we will allow them on ours. If not, we will maintain that boundary. Do you allow people food? Is your dog on a strict diet? We will maintain whatever habits you have put in place, so their routine is disrupted as minimally as possible. At the same time we want your pup to have a "vacation" of their own. So, we strive to have fun adventures (hiking/trips to Home Depot/grandma's house, etc.) whenever possible!
