I’m an artist, writer, and researcher who works from my home studio here in the South Loop. My days are filled with creativity, curiosity, and good company, especially from my own dog, Scoresby. He and I explore the neighborhood together every day, taking four walks to a variety of parks and scenic spots around the area. Caring for dogs has become a natural part of my daily rhythm. I understand how much our pets mean to us, and I bring that same sense of attention, reliability, and affection to every dog I look after. Whether it’s long walks, quiet companionship, or keeping to a specific routine, I make sure each pup feels safe, happy, and cared for—just like my own.

I live in a spacious, dog-friendly loft apartment right across the street from 16th & Prairie Dog Park, with Fred Anderson Dog Friendly Area and Prairie District Park just a short walk away. My home has plenty of open space and a calm, creative atmosphere where dogs can relax and feel comfortable. I take safety and routine seriously. Dogs are always supervised, and I make sure they’re securely leashed during walks and when entering or leaving the building. My own dog, Scoresby, is friendly and well-socialized, and he enjoys having other dogs join us for our daily walks, covering at least 2 miles a day through different parks and routes in the South Loop. Whether a pup is staying with me or I’m visiting them in their own home, I focus on creating a consistent, caring environment. I follow each dog’s routine closely (meals, walks, playtime, and rest) so they always feel secure and cared for, just as they would with their family.

Information Muindi M. would like to know about your pet
Before a stay, it’s really helpful for me to know the following... Daily routine: Usual feeding times, walk schedule, how often they go out, and their normal bedtime. Energy level & play style: Are they a high-energy pup who loves long walks and fetch, or more of a couch cuddler? Any favorite games or toys? Social preferences: How they do with other dogs (on and off leash), people, kids, and whether they’re okay sharing space with my dog, Scoresby. Behavior quirks: Any reactivity (to dogs, bikes, scooters, etc.), resource guarding, separation anxiety, barking tendencies, or things that make them nervous. Health & meds: Any medical conditions, allergies, recent injuries, or medications they’re taking, plus vet contact info. Training & house rules: What commands they know, what you’re working on, and any rules you want me to keep consistent (no furniture, specific potty area, crate use, etc.). Comfort items: Favorite treats, chews, or bedtime routines that help them relax and feel at home.
A typical day
A typical day with me is a mix of exercise, play, and plenty of calm downtime. In the morning, we start with a nice walk, often through 16th & Prairie Dog Park or one of the nearby green spaces, so pups can stretch their legs, sniff around, and get their energy out. After breakfast and some water, we hang out in my loft, where there’s lots of open space for playing with toys, practicing basic cues (sit, stay, etc.), or just lounging in a sunny spot. Midday usually includes another potty break and a shorter walk or play session, depending on your dog’s age and energy level. If they’re playful, we might do fetch, tug, or “sniffari” walks where they can explore at their own pace. If they’re more low-key, we’ll keep things relaxed with gentle petting, brushing, or quiet time. In the afternoon or early evening, we go out for our longer walk (about 2+ miles total for the day), often exploring different routes in the South Loop so things stay interesting. Back at home, it’s dinner, cuddles, and winding down. I follow whatever routine your dog is used to, whether that’s crate time, couch snuggles, or a favorite bedtime ritual, so they feel safe, happy, and right at home while you’re away.

Pet care experience
I’ve cared for my own dog, Scoresby, for over ten years, and in that time I’ve also looked after many friends’ dogs: everything from energetic puppies to gentle seniors. Living with and caring for dogs has taught me patience, consistency, and how to read each dog’s unique personality and needs. I’m comfortable with all kinds of dogs and take pride in creating a calm, structured environment that helps them feel secure and happy. I pay attention to details: whether it’s sticking to a feeding schedule, managing medications, or giving extra time and care to older dogs. With my creative, flexible work-from-home schedule, I’m able to give dogs plenty of one-on-one attention, long walks, and genuine companionship throughout the day.
Reviews

Muindi has a calming energy and a genuine love of dogs. He asked clarifying questions before drop off which helped put me at ease that he wanted to take great care of our Kiwi. He took her on a really long walk and sent several pictures during the day. She came home tired and happy. Highly recommend!

Muindi was wonderful in caring for our dog. Communication was great and it was obvious our dog was well taken care of!

Muindi was great even though I booked last minute for a Christmas sit! He was very communicative and made the drop off a breeze. I had a morning flight on Christmas Day and needed to drop off in a short frame of time. The whole process was uncomplicated and he was very reliable.
Muindi is kind and patient with dogs. He understands their intelligence and good nature. Muindi is gentle, but can be firm when our young terrier needs a boundary. Muindi always has a positive sense of humor. If we need a sitter for our dog, we know he’ll be satisfied and happy to be in Muindi’s care!
